The fan belts on my bus are not more than 12 years old, but the number on the belt is no longer valid and nobody seems to have an interchange for it, including the manufacturer!  The belt is a Dayco BK97.  (I found this part number listed in an old Dayco catalog on an Australian website so it was valid at one time.)

Would the easiest way to get a new set of belts be to bring the old one to a parts place?  I know the belt is 97 inches, but I have no idea on the profile.

I tried to order two new belts from MCI, but the part number in the parts book is wrong and MCI's parts dept came up with a number that is labeled as the compressor belt, not the fan belt.

My MC8 has a "C" section fan belt (120" I think).

Here in Australia, I've found that the larger bearing distributors also sell v-belts at a good price.

Take the belt in and they will measure it. It is unlikely they will have such a long belt in stock, but can get it in a day or two.

What I found on a search is that a Dayco BK is 16.7 mm wide by 11.1 mm thick. That is almost identical to a standard B belt but the K signifies Kevlar cord construction. HTH

Probably the same PDF catalog I found.  The BK and the B are so close in size I'm sure a B belt will work.

I've only bought one other belt in my life and I ordered from the parts book for my bus.  I wasn't aware there are standard size and shapes for belts.

Brian,

Try any local industrial supply house, should not be that hard to find.
