Sort of a silly question to a seasoned busnut, but please help contribute to my bus education. If you search for "bus" under RV's & Campers on the E-booty Motors site, it will currently pull up a coach described as a 1969 Liberty Coach Prevost Challenger, however the coach looks suspiciously like a MCI MC-7 to my untrained eye... any opinions.

Thanks

your untrained eye aint so untrained.

there is no mistaking that as an MC-7.

Ignorant seller agent is my conclusion and likely an owner got it in an estate or the like and knows squat as well

tekebird

looks to be in good shape..with that said I ahve looked at ones that photograhed better than this that were ragged out rode hard and put away wet.

29k from new???? Doubtful unless documented.

Not sure but in 69 there were no Red Detroits.

Red Detroits are a sign of a reliabuilt engine in that time period.

was not until the mid 70's when red engines were installed with Automatics.

but just from condition.....that is no 29k engine that was garage kept it's whole life.

Thank you, Mr. Wotring, for letting me know I was on the mark. Looks like my bus studies are paying off. I happen to agree with you regarding the engine. Doesn't look very well kept to me.

Thanks again for the confirmation.

my MC-8 has 170k Documented miles and looks far better than that one

Hi yo silver

When checking out the e-place, you often see headings like this.  The seller wants a potential looker/buyer to pull up his listing, regardless of what kind of bus title they type in, so they list it under every kind of bus or conversion they can think of; i.e. Liberty, Prevost, Challenger, GM, whatever.

Yes, I see people misrepresent buses quite often. I'm just a newbie, actually still a busnot at this point, but I'm shopping around. I'm just a stickler for accuracy in representation of things people try to sell.

tekebird

pretty certain they just don't kow squat....there is no mention of MCI anywhere so the Concept of using multiple words for search engine sake isn't in play here.

BusCrazyTom

I agree sir, that its more likely ignorance than intended deception, but misinformation all the same. I could see that a non-bus savvy seller could look at it and think it was a Prevost due to the fact most Liberty conversions I am aware of are. I was really just trying to determine if it was actually something valid I'd never heard of, but the resemblance to an MC-7 was just too much a dead giveaway.
Being so new to buses I just needed a pro's confirmation.

If you guys are amateurs, then that makes me really a hack! LOL!
Gotta ask questions to get my information before I plunk my hard earned money down on a bus, 'cos I'm going to live with it a long time.  ;D

Still a neat looking bus. I have always been partial to the MCI 7. I just don't get the yellow light on the roof. ???
It could be an early Liberty conversion. I know the first one Liberty did was a GMC. I think they went exclusively with Prevost around 1982.

BusCrazyTom

Yeah, I didn't understand the flashing light either, unless it means "Rolling Party...Get Out of The Way!"
