Today, I had enough of the junk mail that comes everyday so I'm now doing this.

Mail back their return envelopes EMPTY..... and of course shred the contents.  They will get charged for the postage!

9 went into the mailbox today and from now on thats what I will do with everyone that comes.

Hope you will join in!

Nick, I used to get one offer a week to apply for a credit card from Capital.
I started tearing out my name and address and sending them back in their prepaid envelopes.

Then I realized that if they didn't know who it was from, they would continue to send them to me, so I left the name and address on the form and took a marker pen and wrote "no thank you" on it (big letters) and mailed it back.

After a couple of months they quit sending them and I haven't heard from them in months now.

I heard about an old lady living in New York that signed up for every free subscription, every news letter, and got put on as many mailing lists as she could to recieve free catalogs, etc. The mail truck would come directly to her home & deliver in huge quantities.

She would take deliveries, and then put all the mail newspapers, etc directly into her furnace! She was heating her home for free...

We belong to Good Sam and I believe that it's cost them more in Junk mail sent to us than our dues were.
Maybe I'll start sending the Good Sam stuff to Capital One.

The most undesirable spam is faxed spam (wasted paper and ink) - our receptionist is instructed that after the 2nd spam they should copy the fax 10 times and fax it continously for 30 minutes back to its source - I'll take the phone call from the source complaining about how I'm tying up their fax line, etc. - I just thank them for giving my receptionist something to do - and , oh , BTW she works until 5 EDT,thank god we don't pay for "overtime" - Have a "nice" day -

I've been doing that for 10 years - love it!  A fellow at the counter at the post office told me it costs 78 cents in postage for each one that's returned, between the permit and the actual postage.  I even mail those postcard stuffers that come in magazines. . .

The husband of a friend of my SO is a mason - he tapes the return envelopes to old bricks and drops them in the drive-up box in front of the PO. . .    :o :o

Years ago I was getting regular junk faxes at my home office from some guy selling driveway rock salt. His faxes included an order form to fill out and fax back to him. It was back in the days when faxes used the thermal paper in roll form, and it wasn't cheap stuff.

I initially faxed him a polite request to stop sending those junk faxes, but he never took me off his list. Eventually he ticked me off and I start thinking.  I took four sheets of paper and taped them together end to end to make a strip 8.5 inches x 44 inches, On it, in big marker, I wrote what I thought about his junk faxes.    I fed a little of the strip into my fax machine. Then I took the tail end of the strip and wrapped it around so I could tape it to the beginning of the strip.  This created a continuous loop running through the machine.  At about 10:30 that night I fired off a fax to the guy's office and started letting it run.  It was a local call, and I let it run for 2 hours, before I eventually turned in for the night.

Never got any more faxes from him. ;D

If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be tough.

Ok, That's got to be the best! I've heard about all the others. I even return them with my name still intact, but I've never heard of a continuous loop of fax paper. That's awesome!

I like the old lady one. I might have to do that one. I bet you could heat your house just off
the junk. Might be time to install that wood stove I've been wanting. We get freeby newspapers that go straight into the trash, along with all kinds of junk mailings on a regular basis. I like the idea of signing up for all the free stuff and burning it. Wonder if I could get a separate address just for the junk. Kind of like my separate email addresses to filter out the spam.
