One more time I am going to try to go to Columbia SC area to check it out and maybe look for a house.  Anybody got and info about campgrounds, places to stay or live in the area. Any suggestions, opinions or wisecracks greatly appreciated.

I grew up in West Columbia, just off 378. My folks are preparing to sell their house there (westover acres), so I soon won't have that reason to go there.

That area has grown up lots in the past 10 years. . . . But is still a nice area. Real estate on the West side towards Lake Murray/ Lexington may be spendy but offer better resale. The East side towards Orangeburg may offer some better deals.

Get a place big enough to host a few bus-nuts  ;D

I spent several weeks at Fort Jackson, all expenses paid, in the summer of 1970 but I don't think anything I learned there would be up to date.

Hey Lee, I also was there in May ,June and July 1970 at the lower left on tank  hill in A co. . Man it sure was hard  to double time up that hill first thing in the morning. It was a nice hot, sand and sawdust place ,seems like just yesterday.
