What are the chances of fitting a 6V92T mated with an Allison in my MC5A where the 8V71 and Spicer currently sit? I have access to a rebuilt engine/trans. There's nothing wrong with my 871 but the thought of a little more power, and an automatic is kind of interesting. I have access to an eagle 10 thats probably being scrapped but we know the history of the engine and its fresh. And it'll be cheap.

I've heard of lots doing it.  You'll most likely have to upgrade radiators, air cleaner, and muffler.  It'll turn your 5 into a hot rod.  Good Luck, TomC

I figured on a cooling capacity increase. Although i don't know where I'd fit any larger radiators. Maybe have to add a third where the AC compressor was. I wonder about cooling the transmission? I'd have to locate a trans cooler somewhere to. In the eagle it is located in front of the radiator as I recall. And the radiator in the eagle is huge.

Also this 692 is Painted Silver does that have any significance?

If it was painted silver from the factory, it is what's referred to a "Silver 92", or the last and best version of the engine.  You can run the serial numbers with Detroit to verify this.  Good Luck, TomC

On the MC-5 the critical thing is the overall length of the engine and transmission. You cannot shorten the driveshaft on a MC-5.

The Eagle engine may or may not have the cmbined engine oil/transmission oil cooler mounted. If not you can use a separate air cooled transmission oil cooler. To increase water cooling capacity, you can use thicker radiators and bigger fans.
