Its a sad day here at the ranch.....

Our Bus pal NCbob is heading North tomorrow....

It seems like just yesterday he left the cold of North Carolina for the warmth of Florida...

But it is that warmth that is driving him from our bosom....

So go Bob and Jackie,  enjoy your cool summer in NC.

Don't worry about us left here in the blistering heat.... :P

Damn Snow Birds.... ;)

See you in October...

Wow!  But let it be known that we're not as brave (or foolish) as to tempt fate.  We're going to stop off and see the Hobe's (Fred & Carolyn) on our way out of FL.  It's predicted to rain like the proverbial cow p---ing on a flat rock so a day or so of respite from Mother Nature's antics in good company will suit us just fine.

Besides, one can never tell what treasures might be hiding in the confines of Freds' junk pile.

Thanks to all for the best wishes and to Cliff, the Instigator, I say.....Don't pine m'friend.  It won't be long and we'll be back to terrorize you for another winter.

Did you get my MAK email yesterday?  Let me know.

I'm just wondering how you tolerated him for so long??

I met them in Arcadia. Jackie was awesome, but Bob was a whole nuther story!   :o
They're making a nice bus, though.

Wish I'd stayed down there with you all. We're supposed to be getting snow today.

Does this shoot a hole in Al Gore's Global Warming theory?
I think we lost all the fruit trees here in WV, and it is still coooooold out there.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

There a look at the other side to Al Gores global warming theory. Have a look if you have the time it's 1 hr & 15 long

Is the earth getting warmer? Yes
The earth is going to get warmer or cooler; there is no steady state. It cycles, I would vote for warmer over colder.
Is it the result of human active? Jury is out.
Is Mars getting warmer? Yes, ice caps are getting smaller.
Is it the result of human active? Not likely.
Is the major news reporting even-handed? LOL, ROFL.

The Tale of Two Houses:

House 1:

The four-bedroom home was planned so that "every room has a relationship with something in the landscape that's different from the room next door. Each of the rooms feels like a slightly different place." The resulting single-story house is a paragon of environmental planning.

The passive-solar house is built of honey-colored native limestone and positioned to absorb winter sunlight, warming the interior walkways and walls of the 4,000-square-foot residence. Geothermal heat pumps circulate water through pipes buried 300 feet deep in the ground. These waters pass through a heat exchange system that keeps the home warm in winter and cool in summer. A 25,000-gallon underground cistern collects rainwater gathered from roof urns; wastewater from sinks, toilets, and showers cascades into underground purifying tanks and is also funneled into the cistern. The water from the cistern is then used to irrigate the landscaping around the four-bedroom home,
(which) uses indigenous grasses, shrubs, and flowers to complete the exterior treatment of the home. In addition to its minimal environmental impact, the look and layout of the house reflect one of the paramount priorities: relaxation. A spacious 10-foot porch wraps completely around the residence and beckons the family outdoors. With few hallways to speak of, family and guests make their way from room to room either directly or by way of the porch. "The house doesn't hold you in. Where the porch ends there is grass. There is no step-up at all." This house consumes 25% of the energy of an average American home.

(Source: Cowboys and Indians Magazine, Oct. 2002 and Chicago Tribune April 2001.)

House 2:

This 20-room, 8-bathroom house consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year. The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, this house devoured nearly 221,000 kWh, more than 20 times the national average. Last August alone, the house burned through 22,619 kWh, guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of this energy consumption, the average monthly electric bill topped $1,359. Also, natural gas bills for this house and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year. In total, this house had nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for 2006.

(Source: just about anywhere in the news last month online and on talk radio, but barely on TV.)

House 1: Belongs to George and Laura Bush, and is in Crawford, Texas.

House 2: Belongs to Al and Tipper Gore, and is in Nashville, Tennessee.

Have you seen the spin Al is trying to put on it? With that much BS you'd think he could run his whole house off methane gas! & have plenty to spare!

It's too bad he isn't the only one with the double standard.

Hey Bob, are you stopping by the Greenville area? A few of us would like to say hi in person & maybe buy dinner.

Bob, Take the bus up Punkin Town Road and visit my Dad. Your 5' shorter and I think you can get back out easier and cheaper. ;D I may be down that way a time or two this summer as I tossed a light anchor out here in Nashville. It will probably lose it's grip soon.

bubbaqgal

Gumpy, you are right, Jackie is awsome.  But don't be knockin' my Bob.  He is my sweetie (don't tell Dallas) and it has been too long since I have had a good ole Bob hug.  Drive safely you two!!   Cat
