Buddy, My 05 will use up its freeplay and slip if I don't keep it adjusted. Do you have freeplay?

It is on a bus I am inspecting to see if I should buy.  After checking it again I think it is stuck.

I talked with Lewis Bus Lines and they are not able to work on the bus.  Although they did give me a reference to another shop in town.  How big of an undertaking would it be to replce the clutch myself.  I am able to do these kinds of repairs but I am just not used to working on buses, the size is somewhat intimidating and safety is my main concern.

I forgot about "the other guy".  ::)

I'm assuming they referred you to Tow-Jo at 706-722-3639. He's a heck of a nice guy. I've talked to him on several occasions. He stays pretty busy....but that's because he's good. I'm sure if he can help you, he will.

Here's a google map link to his place.

Its not hard to change. Buy or rent a good truck tranny jack and take it apart. That Eagle has a single disc clutch. There is a fair chance the pressure plate can be reused and you only need to buy a disc. The hardest part is the pressure plate, its HEAVY. You are going to need a pilot shaft. You may already have one depending on the condition of the splines on your transmission it may need replacement. If yours looks ok a truck transmission rebuilder may give you a used input shaft to align the clutch, if you can't get one where you buy your parts. Harbor Freight Tool has a truck transmission jack on sale now for $99 that will work. I think you need to check the linkage and make sure it is working on the pressure plate before you pull it down.

In the mean time I am going to fiddle with it myself which usually ends up one of two ways... fixed or destroyed.
