:) :) Does anyone know where I can get replacement gas door springs for the cargo doors on my 89 Prevost. Some of the doors won't stay up anymore. I have tried several sites on the internet but either they won't sell retail or I cannot get the right size. NAPA was $58 ea to expensive, McMaster Carr didn't have the right length. Several of them says Stabilus on it, contacted them with the part number #4565ES but can't seem to get them to call me back after repeated calls to them in North Carolina. I didn't try Prevost because they are probably way over priced. Easy lift in Florida has a             $ 1000.00 minimum. Help!

Any luck with this Scanzel?  Does International Bus Parts carry these?  Scrap yards?

Anybody have a suggestion for Scanzel on these door springs?

I've modified the Subject so maybe you can get some more hits on this.

swallow your whatever and just get them from Prevost.  I think the last time I bought them they were around $28 each, delivered.

Easy to buy online, or just check prices, easy to install.  I applied for and got an account with them, one of the best things I've done for the bus.  They also have all the obscure parts for your coach too.  You really to have the parts book so you can look up your own parts.  although I have found the parts guys to be very helpful when I just couldn't figure it out.

I just bought the rubber bumpers that compress when my air conditioner condensor door is closed, as well as the LED clearance lights.  I had first bought one clearance light, then took it down to my local truck part store who is independent and ususally quite inexpensive.  Prevost was 10% less than they were, and the lights had the correct plug in already connected. I ordered the set, and they were at my door the next day!

Try this web site http://spdhardware.com/ .

I put all new gas shocks on my 04 a couple of years ago and they have a huge amount of gas shocks to pick from.  I finally got my bay doors to go almost straight up.  Look at the adjustable pressure ones.  They cost the same and you can bleed the pressure to the exact amount you want.  Be careful though because you can't go back if you let to much air out.

Hope this helps

I don't find Provost parts over priced and if you buy over an amount (can't remember the amount) they ship it free, and like Jim sez .. they stock all the old parts for your bus.

Prevost has always shipped to me for free, maybe because I have an account (which cost me nothing but the time to apply).  They have shipped UPS next day, a $1 part where the shipping cost more than the part - and there was not charge for the shipping.  Their policy actualy favors the small guy.

And the parts have always been the correct ones that fit well and work as they should with no tinkering.

I have to say I wasn't always thrilled with Prevost parts, but here recently I have to agree with Jim, I priced a new radiator core from them for my 82,  it was the best price that I found and by far!  The shipping costs are included that's hard to beat with todays fuel prices!  Prevost seems to be doing a very good job keeping their customers happy!

Rich (Prevost)

Jim is correct with the price of the gas props, $28....I used to love to be on the phones with customers, but my new role leaves me working btwn svc & parts. new position that forecasts (predicts usage) maintains levels of parts for our service center here in Nashville.

Thanks for the positive feedback about Prevost. They really are putting customer service as the main priority. Some of the parts pricing can be high, but seeing first hand the cost of some of the "tooling" and "set up fees" for running limited quantities of parts, I can see how they must set or structure the pricing.

If you ever have any problems with parts. Call John Bierman 877-299-8881 or Steven Cunningham 866-773-8678. And hit zero on your phone until the branch operator answers. They will patch you through to John or Steven. Tell them I told you to call, you will be well taken care of. If you still have issues, call me at 877-299-8881 again hit zero twice and ask the girl that answers to page Rich in Service. (we have (4) Rich's, my last name is Luttfring.)
