Good Sam's

If any of you guys have Good Sam's towing insurance they have dropped towing a converted bus from any type commercial bus, I have 2 friends that were dropped and fighting Good Sam's for the return of there money with no luck.I figured it was going to happen since most tow insurance restricts the mileage and to closest repair center and no one will work on a vehicle over 10 years old now except a private owned shop and that doesn't aways work out great for a owner ,If you have Good Sam's you need to check before you pay or need it

I had Bad Sams for about 3 years, when I got my first bus, and called them maybe 3 times on 2 different vehicles. They always sent the wrong equipment for the job, and it took them several hours to show up each time.

I switched to Coach-Net a couple of years ago. I heard they are better with big buses, but thankfully, I haven't had to use them yet.

I have been tracking CoachNet since Camping World competitor Blue Compass Rv purchased it, they are making changes, I know they moved the call center back to Lake Havasu. I read where the average tow bill on a bus or the larger RV cost $1500.00 plus $8.00 per mile min, I have seen some $7500.00 tow bills lately

Apart from Good Sam and Coach-Net, are there any other towing insurance companies that cater to bus conversions?   Does AAA still cover RVs?   I insure through National General, but I don't think they offer anything either.

On Coach-Net's website their tab for Service Agreement doesn't work  -  it just says Error 404.   I want to see exactly what they cover and what they don't, especially for $249 a year.

I've used Good Sam twice for my bus, and I just describe it as a Class A Crown motorhome.   Maybe my luck has run out!

I heard AAA will not insure a bus conversion any longer, A friend had to go to Progressive he wasn't happy with the towing price from Progressive.Insurane Co's are like credit cards they change rules then tell you

I've had coach-net for years. Called once for a major recovery plus tow. They covered most which suited me fine. The money saved from that single call has paid for a decade of memberships

John, Coach-Net charges $249 for the first year. In subsequent years, mine dropped to $149.

My Coach Net was $59.00 year for the 18 years I had it.I had State Farm on the Country Coach for 4 years at whopping $16.00 a year, my car and pickup cost me less that $12.00 for 6 months. I never used but my son Rick had his Country Coach with State Farm towed from Wickenburg to Mohave Valley over 200 miles and cost him  0 dollars.My daughter Terri dropped her CoachNet she had the premium package and they refused to tow her SUV with a trailer behind it,I had trouble one time with Coach Net towing a trailer I blew a tire out they wouldn't come out and said the trailer wasn't covered that was the only time I had a problem with CoachNet

Have coachnet, used once, and good sam's because I like good sam's 100 mile tow no questions asked for my other vehicles which I used twice. Once with my truck with a camper on and for 50 mile tow and other time for my truck and a trailer for a 60 mile tow of my chosen drop off location which was better than coachnet that just drop off at nearest service center.  Both took about 24 hours to arrange and was free. For the bus I have coachnet but only to nearest station.  Would be happy to pay $5+ a mile plus fee to either service to arrange to put in a location of my choosing.  I wanted to tow my running bus 250 miles and could not find a provider for less than $3k. These guys have system to find providers I don't have and would happily pay a fee for them to arrange towing at their arranged price to save $$$. It's sounding like health care now!

I just checked and have RV platnium+  which does include 100 mile tows to location of my choice but no bus towing. Just as long as I make the call they have never checked ownership of the vehicle. https://roadside.goodsam.com/plan-benefits/rv/platinum-plus
It's pricey but being in California Bay Area tows are ridiculously expensive and would pay for itself if I have 1 tow every 5 years and like peace of mind.

Another comment. From what I have heard, Bad Sams is not keen on using lowboys, whereas Coach-Net has no problem sending one out if you need it.  One time I asked for a lowboy from Bad Sams for my 37' Discovery motorhome, and after I complained, they sent out a wrecker.  In the end, when they lifted the front end, they damaged my front cap, and all I got out of it was a free year's membership from Bad Sams. In fact, the only reason I stayed with Bad Sams so long is that they gave me free memberships for two years because I complained when they sent out the wrong equipment. 

Another time, they sent out a small wrecker that was obviously not big enough, then went back and got a large tilt trailer.  They did not pull the axle as I suggested when my Allison froze up, and they just dragged it up onto the trailer. Thankfully, they did not damage it (that I know of), but they could have. They had no tools to do that.
