Hey Greg, try to get in touch with Jeff. He has a shop in Florida and is building one in Tennessee. He has a Wanderlodge now but used to have an MCI. Good mechanic on buses and 2 strokes.

I need the information for the PPV valve. DUHHH!
Greg -

Luke at US Coach in NJ should have the PPV valve in stock, and can overnight it to you. 9-4, M-F, 856-794-3104 is his number. Make sure to put it in your phone's contact list!

Air systems on buses air up stages, wet tank 1st, then main tank to the front tank, then to the auxiliary tanks,it sorta of crazy MCI'with the air Dryer behind the front axle
'' I reached out to Jeff a couple of times via e-mail a couple of times but have not heard back.

That is what is on his signature on the WOG board. I'll reach out to him over there & see. He just got back from TN so he may not be checking his email.

I did hear from Jeff. He seems pretty knowledgeable and is a very calm individual. MUCH more than I can say about :-X me.
But I wouldn't expect anything less from anyone associated or recommended here.
Glad to see nothings changed the last 15 years.

Have a good weekend one and all.

I posted detailed information about the location of the pressure protection valve for Jeff on the Bus Grease Monkey forum today. It is possibly under a little fiberglass cover in the front bay on the passenger side, and the part number is Bendix 277147, or NAPA TWD BENOR277147X.

The MCI has a 1 way check valve for the tanks too it is not always the PPV. MCI is terrible about changing the schematics on the air and electrical system by serial and unit number., I have 5 different schematics for the MCI 9, I will never understand the drier at the front axle on a MCI 35 ft of tubing to the drier then routed, back to the tanks. Some models the PPV is inside the spare tire compartment on a MCI 9.fwiw you never know where it is at The replacement # is PTP 277147 same valve is used on the DD3 parking brake and the air wipers plus the door on some units, The air driers are great but they can cause problems on valves by drying the air to much for some older valves

On GMC 4905, optional air dryer is mounted left end of fuel tank recess. If it has optional full length tank, then must be elsewhere. I installed AD9 one where ac compressor use to be.

I need to replace the Quick release valve since the diaphragm fell out in pieces when I split it. I did a search on NAPA for the part and there are 5 or 6 that look like the one I need. Part Number anyone?

I have removed the QR Valve to look for numbers. There are a couple but none that I can find any reference to on line.

what differentiates these valves is the strength of the internal spring, along with port sizes.

The rest are various casting/body/batch identifiers.

The tag that gets attached under a bolt on assembly is mission critical, if trying to avoid ordering from the manufacturer.

Not sure what the current price spread might be, just call Luke with your credit card?

happy coaching!

swap the spring to retain factory pressure. Clean it up first. I had to do that with discontinued inversion valves for my GMC.
Or you can download the Bendix air component book. It lists operation of various air brake parts, and in some cases, lists part numbers and pressure or component part numbers for each valve.
