The earliest proposed ban on new sales of gas cars is 2035, twelve full years from now.  Twelve years ago in the other direction, the Nissan Leaf had literally just come out as the first mass-production EV, and look how far the tech and the market have come since then.

Let's say 2035 is coming up and you still don't trust EVs but *must* have a brand new car?  Fine, buy a gas car in 2034, that should get you at least a solid decade of good use, more if you care for it.  Let's be real here - how many of the EV-bashers on here are really concerned about being able to buy a new gas car in 2044 - 22 years from now?
It starts in 2030 in Washington State. The frog is coming to a full boil, and this is just the beginning. This subject is all about buses, the car thing is only the catalyst.

From what I can see, they have a non-binding 'goal' of no non-zero-emission vehicles by 2030, but no prohibition in place until 2035.  Let's be generous though - let's say they update the prohibition to start five years early - are you that convinced that EVs will be a huge problem come 2039?  Do you think that if 2029 rolls around and there are still huge problems with the EV situation, that no one will postpone the timeline?

DC electric motors have been in use for a 100 years problem has been it takes some sorta of fuel to make DC power, like a train uses DC motors and 5500 hp diesel engine to make the DC power. I am not up on EV's but being battery powered one has to be DC since no batteries are made to store AC power I know of,They predict we will need 480% more power in 10 years because of EV's where is that going to come from ? solar and wind are not that reliable yet

So what are they going to do with the batteries out of ev's when they are junk are they considered hazardous material? How much will it cost you to dispose of it? how much for a new one? All sound like boat loads of money and B.S. I don't think Mother earth really cares what humans do she has had climate changes way before humans developed energy out of fossil fuels. According to this website we need to get rid of people.

F*** that everyone can lie about the numbers by taking the worst case scenario that is a no brainer vehicle to home or grid solution.

What multiple of the basic vehicle warrantee would justify every EV plugged in at home, justify not firing up a coal burning power plant?

You can always tell when you're on the right side of an argument when you're not on the side suggesting which groups of people should die.

I said it "starts" in 2030.

My wife and I seriously considered buying an electric car for her since all her driving is local to the store or what have you (she has never driven on the freeway and refuses to). But we ended up with a new Subaru for no other reason except that we liked the car. That being said, I'm not afraid of EVs. I just think that they are trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist, and that is being forced upon us (if not today, they are eventually). They've been reducing emissions for decades on all vehicles, but apparently that wasn't enough. Nothing is ever enough. Next it will be the batteries, then...? Try researching how much power (emissions) is needed to produce a single electric vehicle including the battery and add the consumption factors in. You might be surprised. To be honest I haven't personally researched it, but I've heard that it is a wash, or even a reversal, but I could be wrong. To keep with the subject of buses, I love buses! Take care :)

Agreed! It's all about controlling our freedoms and the all mighty dallar. Where's that time machine I would like to get stuck back in the fifties where all you had to worry about was having enough money to go to the movies.
