How many no longer have one. Sure some here haven't had one for years. Finally ended ours. Nothing but silence when picked up or selling or soliciting. The extra a month will go in the tank.

We cut the phone line before we left Nipawin which is over 15 years ago now. About 3 years ago we dropped our dish service as well. Now everything comes through the internet wire or over our cell phones. We're watching Starlink closely but like Clifford I worry that the teaser startup pricing won't last.

I am not one to jump on anything that does not have terms and conditions,Starlink is selling equipment that cost $3000.00 for $600.00 there has to be a reason and as smart as Musk is he going to recoup his investment, or he wouldn't be worth a 100 billion dollars,I have enough problems with banks and credit cards trying to change the written terms if you don't contest it they shove it down your throat

I still have a land line, had 2 one for my business, before I retired. Cell phones, weren't as reliable as now. Had the earliest cell, in a brief case, got more jobs because they had 2 numbeers to call, before going onto the next cameraman. I find doing business with the different governments,  utilities and a few other things is better than batteries going dead, having a microwave next to your head, or erratic signal being frustrating, is better with a land line...

We still have a land line phone because of DSL internet. We are as far out from the phone office in the country as they can push DSL and around here the fifty bucks a month is the cheapest way to have good internet. We don't use the land line as we can only call local with no extra charge.

We moved Rita's parent up here from Florida 10 years ago. They always called on the home phone. Got them both cells they can work and put our cell numbers in their phones. They still called from their home phone to ours when they are home. Since they are 90 now, they are home unless at the doctor. Tired of political and scam calls, we finally broke them of us not having a home phone and they learned to call our cell phones.

So 3 months ago Rita called and cancelled our home phone. It still works. She tried again and they said it is disconnected. She said "I am talking to you on it now.".
Long pause on the other end and they said they would have to check on that. I told her to give me the bill when they send it so I can go Marine Corps on them in person at their office in town. Phone still works. Still no bill.
We still got BS calls so we unplugged it last week.

Did away with Cable, then Dish about 4 months ago. They told us they don't come get the dish off the house anymore and we'd have to do it. We still have all the channels that we used to pay for! No bill. Better not get one either.

Just too hard for people to do their job I guess. Probably takes at least three mouse clicks to dump us.

I'm thinking of calling DC and asking them not to send us anymore stimulus checks....  Maybe they will start that up again!  LOL

No landline phone for me either. I'll go beyond that since I was thinking about this yesterday. How many airports and train stations even have those white courtesy phones anymore? Really no need thanks to cell technology.

does landline mean a phone that is connected to the wall? Or do you mean specifically, a true old school ATT hardware line from the pole that provides talk and optionally DSL internet?
I'm curious how many of the old geezers are cell only or have phone service delivered via the internet to the plug in the wall?

Good old phone mounted on the wall. No internet with. They used to have a crank years ago. Cliff probably still has that type

I think it means a phone which the service is delivered via a wire to the phone itself without the benefit of the internet and not radio frequency.

When you get a chance, check out this circa 1990 classic SNL "commentary".
Make sure you're not drinking anything otherwise you'll spit it out laughing.
