It is easier to buy a Pro Driver or a Sliverleaf to monitor your engine and transmission you can pick up extra power supplies from the battery compartment 12 or 24 v and the batteries are closer. the 2 mention above are going to be more accurate reading from the DDEC than any gauge and

PVC - another great idea, thank you!

I forgot to mention, this is a DDEC II  - Went back & forth w/ Silverleaf.  The manufacturer eventually said that my DDEC had so little functionality that it wouldn't be worth the $$ to install the Silverleaf as there would be so little functionality.

Hopefully not hijacking my own thread, but is it just a bad idea to move from DDECII to DDECIII?  I've wondered this for quite a while.  That would be another way to work through this - if it is possible.

Thank you!,

The DDEC ll is a 12volt unit on a 24v MCI and getting hard to find ,if you, upgrade then you can use the B500  with your series 60 pass on the DDEC lll ECM on go to the DDEC IV,the harness will be easier to find for the IV so will the ECM,you are going end up upgrading anyways when the ll fails unless you have a spare ll
Kevin can do that for you

Interesting Clifford re: the IV.  Hadn't even considered that. My II has almost NO functionality.  Very few items hooked in.

Thank you Cliff!!

agree on going upbto the IV as these things go obsolete fast enough. eventually, even that will go unobtanium. once the change over to all electric vehicles goes full forward, all the old stuff support will start to fade. especially electronic items

Not to hijack this thread, but this post made question what a DDEC is. I was under the impression that a DDEC was the computer that runs the engine II, III, IV, etc.), but I think I am starting to realize (correct me if I'm wrong) that a DDEC is the device that you plug into your bus to check codes. Is that correct? I need to study up on glossaries and definitions!

" DETROIT DIESEL ELECTRONIC CONTROL" DDEC" It's the computer that controls electronic DD engines.  Diagnostics plug into it.
"ATEC" Allison Transmission Electronic Control.
And then the Golden oldies "MUI" Mechanical Unit Injection.
