Fuel System Issues?

Hi bus community!

Recently I changed my fuel filters and seem to have allowed air into the system. Of course, my 8v71 engine will not start, only crank.

So far I've tried cracking the air pressure valve, pulling a vacuum on the hose from the pump, and hose to injectors. Nothing

I was able to extract some air and diesel from my pump, and when I retighten the hose back on, my air pressure valve (when open) bubbles and drips. Beyond that, it seems I'm not getting any fuel to the injectors.

The filter and strainer seem to be on tight enough, and all my connections are sealed up. I have about 45 gallons in the tank and I'm on level ground.

Im new to diesel work, and this 8v71 is quite the introduction. Any suggestions as to get this thing started? Thanks!

Make up a priming rig to attach to the primary fuel filter spare port, or install an electric priming pump, cuz this will happen every time, moving forward.

An inexpensive garden sprayer with some brass fittings and a 1/4 turn valve can be readily be made up for the priming rig.

The fuel pump will NOT pump air.

Vacuum methods rarely work, everyone pushes the fuel in these.

Happy coaching!

I was typing at the same time as buswarrior. Basically the same answer. Good luck.

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll be sure to try this out and update as I go. I'm sure I'll run into more hurdles as I go.

Thanks again
