When I ordered Rear air bags from Luke I forgot to get shocks so I found these close by:

Gabriel 89425 GasSLX Heavy Duty Adjustable Shock Absorber; Min/Max is within 1/4 of the book. I set them to max firm but have yet to do an extended road trip. Around the area they seem great but then the old ones were toast, so anything would probably be great at this point :)

I used Gabriel shocks many years ago and found then a lot cheaper then OEM and better control.

I got the gasslx hoping to tame that massive rear axle. Some 4106s even had a dual rear shock option.

Years ago I ran a lot of Gabriel on cars and pickups but always used Monroe on heavy applications. Monroe's seemed to hold up better on the class eight trucks. You probably never put enough miles on the bus to wear the Gabriel's out.

My Gabriel shocks are over 20 years old and still working fine. I can tell when you hit a bump and don't get a double bounce from the rear end. I did put twin shocks on the rear as well many years ago. Easy to make your own mounts at least on mine it was.

You added twin shocks!

I can make the upper mount but the shock mount on the axle is not look so straight forward to me.

Here is how I attached a second shock to my GM. 3173 is the original mount and the other 3172 and 4 are the new one. Just a 3/4" bolt welded to a plate with a spacer and bolted to the air bag beam. The top mount is the same.

Thank you for the pics Bill. That gives me some good ideas.
