On my 6V92 there is a hose that goes forward where I can't see the other end. Will take off access panel under the bed tomorrow. The plastic or rubber covering is falling off and the braided metal covering under it is all rusted. Guessing I'm lucky it has not already blown. Water line?? Trying to get a picture to post now. Probably sideways...

Comes off water pump area. Not much pressure there. Many of those cloth covered braided hoses get that way with time. And still contain fluids they are carrying for a long time without issue.

Thanks Chessie. Think I will still get it replaced. Looks gnarley.
Been enjoying your travels! Did you find a place to hide from traffic before you slide into The FMCA meet in Wyoming?
Best regards and travel safe,

There were 3 bus airs when it was built. Two removed by previous guys for more storage. I fired up the third one which does put some nice heat in bedroom, but we mostly use electric when plugged in. I opened the access panel under the bed. Waaay cool access to lots of things hard to reach. Thanks for the help guys but
I decided this afternoon to take it to Jeff Rowe next week since he has a bit of a break in schedule. I'll have him change out the line while I learn where the other end goes. Also due for oil and lube. I wormed around under the bus last month and got more grease on the driveway than where it is supposed to go and couldn't reach 5 of the zerks. I want to pretend I can change the oil at least, but don't want 8 gallons of used oil in my driveway. I'll spill it. Jeff puts it up in the air, does all that stuff and it is kind of fun to walk under my bus! I know things that are supposed to be tight, get tightened. And at 65 years old, me thinketh "Ya know what? It is not a lawn mower, he doesn't overcharge, and it is worth it".

currently at Laramie Wy. Heading up to convention tomorrow, Dropping TT. ( they charge another 30/day for early arrivers), then heading to Yellowstone Park in truck and spending 3 nights in area motel, as all rv parks are filled. We'll be back at convention on the 6th. More touring after the convention and a  brief visit to Clifford and Sonja.

If that mystery hose runs anywhere near the exhaust, I suggest covering the replacement hose with silicone/fiberglass insulation sheathing to protect it from heat.   Some years ago I replaced the air compressor's coolant hoses because they were completely hard (they both actually snapped apart as I was removing them!), and put the new hoses inside some insulation sheathing so I won't have to do that job again for a loooong time.   I also did the same with the compressor's new oil hose and the hydraulic fan motor's new supply hose.   The sheathing isn't cheap, but it's well worth it.   A broken hose there will be a show stopper (or worse).

Thanks John. It drops down pretty fast from my picture and goes back uphill near the other end of the engine. Previous guy replaced all hoses but will certainly look at what is near the hot pipe when I have it in the shop next week. Will pass along if anyone cares what the hose does or goes to. A dump truck driver I know came by and said it is a water line but who knows to what.
Go Chessie! I heard no RVs in Yellowstone. Been there twice and best is just after all the kids are back in the correctional facilities. Nice and cool and the elk are bugling. Good luck at FMCA. I grew up in Ft Collins and we hunted antelope near Gillette. It is a pioneer town. Good steak places there.

major fire hazard in state due to little rain. So no camping of any kind in park.

Back from the shop. It was a water line that goes all the way to the dash. Fortunately in 4 sections. Only peeling, bulging part was in the engine box. Others not subjected to 40 years of hot engine box were fine. They pulled it, which was a trick, took it up the road and had one made, put it back on. Once in a while, I think it worth going to a place they put it up in the air. They did all filters and fluids, greased it in about 12 minutes, and we looked at all air bags, shocks, brake pads that we could see etc.
They sharp eyed guys also changed out a bad battery terminal and other little things that needed attention. Did it all in 4 hours total and under $900. I can do that once in a while. Felt great driving home, but got home to father in law losing more use of his legs, so Loudonville may be out, which is why I was pressing so hard to have the old bus fully mission capable. Dammit.
Hope everyone that is travelling is having safe travels. To those waiting for it to cool off and kids back in school so roads are more open, it won't be long!!!

There's lots of different styles of wheelchairs that might make it possible for your father-in-law to still make the trip. If it means a lot to him to make it to Loudonville, hang in there to find a way.

you couldn't  grease mine in 12 minutes. Must be over a hundred fittings. I use a laminated chart so I don't  miss any. And jack front wheels off the ground a little to do the king pins while helper turns steering wheel.

Father in law changed meds with new neurologist and walking much better! Will get him to Loudonville somehow!
Wow Chessie. That is a lot of fittings! My shorty Prevost lube chart shows 34 fittings. Two guys with guns did it much faster than me on my back. They even did things I didn't remember like steering u joints. Sometimes it is good to be littler....
