1948 GM TDH 3610 High Gear Question

Posting this question for a fellow I met in our search for a bus.  This fellow has a 1948 TDH 3610 SN#361 that he is selling.  Bus has a 4V71 automatic transmission.  Bus has Front, Neutral & Reverse, with there being a low & high gear to drive in. The bus needs to be gutted and re-done inside.  It runs and drives but only has low gear working, he was wondering if it was a spring that needed to be replaced to keep it in high gear and if so where could he source one.  He says for high gear it has a torque converter. 

I have seen photos of the old gem and it would be a shame for it to be left to rot in its current location.  I told him I would post on the bus forum to see if anyone out here knows what it might need with regards to getting it to stay in high gear and be operable in high gear, as well as where to find the needed parts to repair it.

If anyone out there has knowledge on this vintage of bus, and what it needs, please do chime in.

VH or VS transmission.

The old transit mechanics all liked them, repairs could be made sitting right there on the shop floor.
