I asked this question on the Country Coach group but seems like they don't get their hands dirty so I will ask the wise ones here.Has anyone used the DrainMaster electric valves,my Country Coach is equipped with the Barker and they are a piece of crap for $149.00 each. All they are is the cheap blade valve you can buy at WM for 10 bucks with a Chinese made 12v gear motor with plastic gears strapped to the valve pulling on the stem.Long story short version my keys fell in the toilet don't ask how,the keys hung  in the blade and the gears stripped out on a new Barker. The drain Master are supposed to be S/S gears so I am asking does any one here have the Drain Master valves.Only way I can use a manual valve is cut the S/S cover or I would use the manuals dump valves and I am not going to do that

I agree that the Drain Master units look much beefier. No experience with them, as we have pneumatic control.

Could you use a manual valve with a handle extension? Then you'd just need a hole large enough for the shaft to go through.

Not enough clearance about 1/2 the bonnet on the valve would need to come through the S/S the sewer hose connection comes through the S/S and I don't want to be cutting on this to stick ugly valves through it,when polished it really looks nice

" Barker and they are a piece of crap for $149.00 each"
and are all original with the coach and have worked for over 20 years in a crappy environment but then again I have never dropped my keys in the crapper . sounds to me like a really crappy situation . how did you get the keys out of the black tank ? did they float ?

sorry I could not help myself

I have the drainmasters on both my black and gray tanks, they both stick in open or closed position. luckly they have a place for a screwdriver if the motor fails and I can get to them easy enough and all they need is a little help and then they will go.plus the gray one lets water pass through enough that I actually put a manual valve after the drainmasters. Maybe you want to do like Custom Coach and install a small pneumatic cylinder on each one?

I had a air flush toilet, step cover and sliding doors that were air before no thanks,I found some nice well built electric valves that would work made for sewer, the price was a little to much for a dump valve 1800 bucks for the pair anyways I am looking at valves from another manufacture

I have two 2" drain master valves on my two grey tanks and two 3"on my driver  fresh air vents. Been on there for 18 years. I believe the longevity trick is to turn them about 30-40 degrees from straight up and down. This helps the blade not crush debris in the bottom of the gate.  I have to put grease on my air vent valves but never done anything to the tank valves.

That's a heck of a good tech tip David. Should apply equally well to manual valves.

Jim
I saw it on the Internet. It MUST be true...

My black tank is manual and straight up. It gets debris in it from time to time and has to be picked clean at the bottom. Yuk

$149.00 + 2 day shipping I knew I should have bought a drain master this all you get with the Auto Drain a black plastic box with a tiny made in China motor no valve and assembly required. Great factory support to my old one has 3 wires the new one is 4 wires when I ask the voice on the other end said wonder why they are different duh that what I am asking stuff like this pisses you off when they sell you pieces and show a complete valve
