There is much garbage on YOUTUBE and TWITTER but I'll not condemn the platforms themselves. You can start you own channels and pages and select what you want to see.

My feel is that the icon is too bloody big and garish. Does it change to something else when someone has liked a post?

We tried a lot of different icons, wouldn't be difficult to make it smaller, but it has to be large enough to be clear on phones.  When you like a post, it changes color, if you click it again, you unlike the post.  There are permissions options that can be used to limit who sees what about their own and other users' likes.

If it is worth a thumbs up it is worth a comment period

The only thing you might do to improve on the thumbs up would be to have two of them so we could play "switch".  Jack

You should be able to have a different CSS style sheet for different devices or resolutions. I'm not sure how easily that can be configured on top of an "out of the box" forum software though.

Could be done, but we're running responsive Curve mod here, and the Likes mod is fairly complicated, I'd be hesitant to mess with the css.

In a pure sence, "likes" is a necessity in an unmoderated forum, to let the crowd validate the posted content.

The presence of typed words in the past, editorial effort, truthfulness, legitimate sources of information... one would seek to have their writing "published" by the worthy industry recognized publication to establish the veracity of the work...

On a moderated Board?

Superficial nonsense akin to self pleasuring?

Happy coaching!

Wait, are you saying that pleasuring is bad?  Uh-oh!
You don't have to believe everything you think.
