I don't know if that's a good or bad thing for DETROIT but if they think it's going to work for them that's their prerogative.

They tried that in 2010 also except back then they included trucks,it would be nice to see MCI and Vanhool offer the Cummins ISX 600 in their buses,Prevost should offer another engine in their buses beside the Volvo D 13 but that is not going to happen,The school here has a new fleet of Thomas buses with small Detroit DD5 and are not happy with buses setting

Well that's probably why THOMAS still offers CUMMINS engines since their "own" engines are less than grand. A bit embarrassing for DAIMLER huh? I'm sure the bus operators can "tune" those CUMMINS to make 600 HP if they wanted.

luvrbus

The Thomas flat nose 90 passengers buese have the DD8 they seem to be little better, the standard DD8 has a little more HP than the Cummins and the school says the fuel economy is better than the Cummins turned up to the same HP

This is the second time now...

Nobody going to trust them again.

That's a lot of diagnostic tools and training that has to be dealt with. Again.

Cummins must be giggling all the way to the bank. They'll own the bus business beyond the Daimler and Volvo integrations.

Being a CUMMINS stockholder for decades, I'm fine with it😊.
I also find it interesting that the SETRA models use a different engine other than the DETROIT DD13.

Checked out CMI, dividend doesn't work for me (dividend of 1.311 dollars per share, payable on March 5, 2020) at current valuation. :'(

Detroit is pulling out of the bus engine, but yet Setra is still using Mercedes OM471 engines-which is the same engine as DD13, except with Mercedes electronics. Do figure. Good Luck, TomC

Curious what the percentages going out the door at MCI have been, and whose emissions are causing the most grief for warrenty cummins vs detroit

Our J's just go out and run, with detroits.

Our prevost are a real pain for the shop, they are in constant care for the emissions stuff disabling/derating the bus.

Nothing scientific, just the profanity laden descriptions from shop foremen.

Thank You Tom. I had a feeling they were the same engine but duplication and overlap can and does take place. Good question on the emission issues. Perhaps it's part of a grand conspiracy to push the all electric idea of which CUMMINS is a major player. Heaven help us all if they push it too fast.

LOL I just spent $4800.00 on the emission control (turbo plus cooler) on the regen system on my ISX 600 with less than 50,000 miles total. Cummins has a problems the life span of a Detroit is a million plus miles,Cummins told me to get the check book out for the ISX at 500,000 miles for a rebuild @ $35.000.00 plus lol @350,000 miles somebody is going to get a super buy from me,the ISX 600 is fun to drive though

I do like that I can run my wife's suv in the garage with out the stink of the diesel but

I like that the coach has not had any problem's  because of the pre emission lack of stuff but yes I can smell it when I back it into the garage

but love the power
