The unintended consequences of the trade war with China have landed squarely on the backs of a whole industry in Las Vegas: my friends in the bus charter business and the shops that repair buses, including bus conversions, are suffering terribly. Looking at charter buses lined up side by side and parked every which way in their lots, when they usually have many spots to park these 45 foot long, 12' high behemoths day or night. More closely to my friends, is the empty repair bays in my friend Gilbert's shop. The family repair shop, that does such great work on my conversion and kept my girl going thru so many trials and tribulations, is hard to see. Now would be the time to take yours in and not put off any longer, those needed repairs and keep his business going, in Las Vegas. So stop by behind the Orleans Hotel Casino on the way to Quartzsite or going south for the winter or after New Years and get those old 2 strokes feeling better, wheels and brakes rolling...
Chinese tourists are a substantial part of the tourism business in Las Vegas.  Not only do they come in large groups from their home areas in China, it's not uncommon to see one, two or 3 busses of the same town from China on the 100 to 300 mile trips to different parts of The Grand Canyon, but 50 to 200 home town groups of people traveling from south east Asia all go to the same shows, restaurants, tours to Hoover Dam, wide open spaces of the Death Valley, at the same time, all managed by Chinese group tour operators.
They are restricted by their government from traveling on vacations to America, specifically to Las Vegas to gamble and tour...

That's interesting.  It shows that anytime anyone in government regardless of party does something to help an industry, another industry's ox gets gored.  I'm with Ronald Reagan about government.  "Government doesn't solve problems.  Government is the problem."  When he took that path to his policies, whose ox got gored then?  Government bureaucrats!! And boy how they fought back to protect turf.  There are always winners and losers.

PS, I hope it gets better for them in Vegas.

Could it be the 3 and $400.00 rooms causing a decline in Vegas, Laughlin is full of Chinese tours . I paid 70 bucks a day at Sams Town in the middle of the week for a RV spot what the hell going on in Vegas .

Looks can be deceiving, it's the actual numbers that count...

Chinese are being strongly discouraged from visiting Canada or the US for various propoganda reasons.

Significant drop in business in all Canadian markets that they usually visit.

Lots of Chinese have relations in North America who correct the propaganda, and they come anyway, but the numbers are measurably down.

Government sponsored propoganda works  both ways, and lingers for life... for instance, lots reading this will never consider a visit to China...

Some of that tourist money is lost forever.

And that put bus drivers out of work.

Happy coaching!

I guess I am partly to blame, I used those twenty-something dollar hotel rooms, cheap buffets, and never dropped a single coin in those slot machines. It was good while it lasted.  ::)

Now when the 20.00 rooms are advertised you need to be quick because they may just have 1 @ that price

China is like any other addiction - there's a high of varying length and varying intensity but inevitably there's a withdrawal and a crash.  In the long term learning to live without the miserable lying cheating bastards will be better for all of us.

I've read that the Mainland Chinese students at many universities form groups to harass and persecute Hong Kongers and Taiwanese students, not to mention the Confucius Institute propaganda programs on many US campuses funded by the Chinese government.
