I am negotiating on a '94 GMC Diesel pickup truck for a toad. If we come to an agreement, I need someone to just look it over and do a test drive for me. I will be glad to compensate the inspector. Or, if anyone knows a competent trustworthy shop I could have look at it please let me know. I don't have time to go down to Florida right now and I hate to buy something with only the sellers word and pictures.  THANKS!

Have them check for bubbles in the coolant recirc./ overflow bottle for bubbles when idling hot. Indicates head gasket leaking.

I really just want to find someone to look at the truck. I'm not expecting a mechanical inspection. Just simple stuff. Does it start, run, drive straight, brakes work. A/C cools, windows go up & down. Paint faded? Any visible rust?  That type of thing.

Nice truck! I have a '95 with the same colors except its an extended cab. Bought it right off the crusher line at the junk yard. But, it was a farmers so it's rusting out pretty bad now. I have owned a dozen or more since the '80s.

Mine was starting to rust when I got it so it wasn't worth spending a lot on. It has about 230K on it now. We have a '98 with a utility body on it I bought in NC. It's got 370K on it. I bought a '99 crew cab dually new in 2000 and put almost 400K on it before I sold it. I wish I had kept it & put a new engine in it.
