Installing a remote start switch for my generators and I can't find the exact term for what I'm looking for:

I need a switch that is momentary on (to start the generator) off or neutral in center position and on in opposite rocker position but the on in the opposite rocker position needs to stay pushed down when I shut the generator down so that I don't have the hold it down until the generator fully shuts off.

McMaster-Carr. I got mine there to momentarily activate glow plugs, then move to start-run. Then to off to shut it down. When I first got the coach, I left it on glow plugs. (Didnt have momentary glow plug position, and ran down battery. Live and learn.

Scott send me a address I have some remote start panels from Onan I will send you one a momentary switch alone is not going to work without some aircraft wiring engineering

Thanks guys. That helps get me in the right direction. We have a McMaster Carr here in town but they claimed they didn't have such switches. Let me ask them again. Maybe it's an order only otem

A momentary  switch is not going to do it alone lol break down and spend the 200 bucks for the Honda remote starter kit it comes with the relay and control module

You can also call Dick Wright at Wrico International. He has a box full of those types of switches and can probably send one out today. (541) 744-4333

I believe I have that same switch on my Wrico Generator I bought from him last year.

Here is what I used, just paste this into eBay:

12v remote control switch

I have an extra one: two channel, two fobs that I can mail you.  It works 50 feet away!

Cliff, I already installed a switch mom on of on mom. It works perfectly. I have already started and stopped the generator from inside my bus with this switch. I just don't like that I have to hold down the off part until I know the generator is fully shut down.

That what they sell the module for on Honda you press the button it unloads the power and shuts down with no load,$200 bucks is pricey compared to a switch,my Onan unloads before it shuts down, also the panel with remote start, running light and hour meter was plug and play on the Onan  lol 10 minute job to install

I got a wired remote system from these guys for my honda 7000 genny and it has worked every time . not like the wireless remote I had on another genny that only worked 10 % of the time . at the time it was $169 but this was 5 or 6 years ago

The pinellas system is too pricey. I've build my extended run and extended my wiring harnesses for BOTH generators so now I have reliable wired remote start, shutdown, eco throttle control, and indicator lights inside the bus as well as extended run time capability for less than $100. Makes sense and cents for me.
