Transmission oil leak from dipstick

Hi all,
I started a previous thread about oil from my alternator. I have since found the source to be oil from the transmission that is squirting onto the alternator. On shutdown, the oil squirts from the dipstick almost like a burp without the noise. Just one healthy squirt. Not sure if it happens at other times because its not a constant squirt. Wondering what would be causing this, is it simply a bad seal at the dipstick or is there a larger problem. Thanks again for the input. Craig

If it is an automatic.. check the fluid level with the engine hot and idling in neutral,, it may be overfilled.>>>Dan

Make sure the vent isn't  plugged up.

If it has an air modulator check that.

TheHollands!

Where might this air modulator be located?

Down on the side. It has a small airline that tees into line from air throttle tube from accelerator pedal before connecting to throttle actuator at governor housing.

Whats that got to do with oil coming out of the dipstick tube??>>>Dan

Air pressure leaking past internal seals of modulator and causing the issue. I would think the fluid would be a little foamy and also cause some shift issues if it would be leaking. I'd  check for proper fluid level and restricted vent first.
This is assuming that fluid looks clean and normal.

The dip stick is supposed to be sealed on a 740 or they leak,a bad air modulator will also blow fluid out the tube as mention those are to be changed as PM @ 50,000 miles but never are ,I doubt you have a air throttle on your MCI though

I'm not sure that I have an air modulator. I've added a picture of what I see.

Thanks for being patient with me and offering advice. I'm not super mechanical but willing to learn more about my bus. Heres a bit more information that I was thinking about last night and wasn't initially sure if it might be related. I had my transmission fluid changed about 7000 miles ago and had it changed to Transynd oil. The bus has been sluggish lately changing out of first gear (its an auto) but no problem shifting once out of first. I checked the vent, it seems clear, there is some fine wire inside the housing that I assume is meant to be there. The last day I drove the bus (2 days ago), while refueling, the high idle turned off on its own, occasionally coming back on and then turning off. And then finally, on shutdown oil blows out the tranny dipstick (not sure if it does this while driving, at least not a lot). I did check the oil level when idling the other day and had a hard time even seeing anything on the dipstick. When cold the oil shows up a little low. It sounded like some of the suggestions you all had may have been for if it was overfilled? I had added oil when I could not see any on the warm dipstick. I'm a bit uncertain of putting more in until I hear more. Thanks so much, Craig

You should have never changed to Transynd  :-* replace the dip stick seal and you will be fine a 740 will blow fluid from the dip stick if not tight or over filled and you do not have a air modulator that is the standard Morse cable modulator for a 740
