Sure, blame it on someone else. It couldn't  be the state's  environmental regs for fuel.

Not me. it is the LA times and they want you to sign up and pay.

Here is a breakdown and it shows down on the page that the refineries have doubled their profits since Jan until March. some is CA high sales tax also. Anytime we Californians vote something down it seems that they just add a fuel Tax. We save 20 cents a gallon by buying fuel at Safeway grocery stores where we do our shopping or Costco which is a bit cheaper.

Maybe they do this if you live in California. There are several other sources. SanFrancisco Bee, Fox Business, ABC7, etc.

Taxes above the 12 cents the state added a 2.25 sales tax and allows the city and counties to add sale tax that is a 50 billion tax deal put on the people in CA plus they have a special blend of gasoline not the same as most states

There's a holiday weekend coming up next week, so I expect there will be one of the usual local refinery breakdowns or explosions happening in the next few days.   Funny how those refinery cockups always seem to happen when demand is highest, such as during the summer and holidays.   In the meanwhile, diesel here is $4.29.

High prices you guys have to pay since the refineries in CA only refine the Cabob gasoline and the Carb diesel for CA use lol only state in the union that has it own special gasoline and diesel fuel  and it comes at a price

Plus, there is another chance to jack prices during season blend changes. Manipulate supplies to maximize prices. There are different formulations depending on the area of the state so even more price screwing.

Oddly, the recent runup prices was on the gas side; diesel hardly moved during the early months.  About $4.15 for diesel now, it was stuck around $3.50 for the longest time then recently crept up. Remember, CA added a 30 cent tax on diesel recently.

And don't forget the PSA on TV offering free opioids and vaseline to ease pain and suffering.

I'm not happy about our gas tax, but at least there is very visible progress of bridge and highway repair all across the state. Hopefully, the legislature's don't  siphon it away for more projects and programs. They already took a few millions to repair a small dam at a small lake because the state Fish Comission didn't  have the money.
