Dear Experts,

I have gutted an 1976 MCI 5B challenger. I have spent 6 months coating the bare metal with sound proofing and insulation.
I have removed any item that were not working.
I started in the rear and worked my way up to the front. All new walls and floor.
I need to remove the electric fuse panel to coat behind it.
Has anyone removed the panel before?
Since I need to remove it, should I think about have a new rebuilt panel made?

Thanks

Check with Blue Sea. They make both 12V and 120vac custom panels. I had them work up a price for a custome 12V/120VAC combo panel for my bus. They wanted around $2,500! I used 2 simple Blue Sea fuse panels and circuit breaker boxes from Home Depot-maybe spent $200. Good Luck, TomC

I would not mess with the bus wiring.  Everything is coded and should be in your service manual.  The extra 12v RV wiring can go through an independent fuse block, And the 120v wiring should go through a house type breaker box with a door. I found it convenient to put the 12v panel above my Trace inverter inside the bus in my bathroom. I don't know who made my 12v fuse panel, but it must have 15-20 fuses in it, and if one blows, a light above the fuse turns on.  I haven't been a fuse in over 15 years.

Thanks Geoff. I've been looking for a fuse block for my cruise, pulse wipers, usb, lighter socket, and electric visors. I found this on Amazon. And it has the blown fuse led indicators.

As said before, look at the Blue Sea fuse block for 12v dc. It not only has positive fuses, but also a grounded side. I have many fixtures that are not, or cannot be grounded to the frame of the bus. The wired ground proved to be both useful and convenient-keeping from having to drill holes in the frame of the bus for a ground. Good Luck, TomC

I've also used the Blue Sea fuse blocks, both with and without grounding blocks built in. The last one I installed I used a separate grounding lug strip, also from Blue Sea. Most well built I've seen sold retail.
