I'm to the point where I should buy batteries and get my solar ready for the road. The bus came with a modified sine wave inverter by Xantrex. I'm assuming it's from 1984 when it was converted. You can still buy a very similar inverter under the Xantrex name online; I'm sure it is much lighter and has a few more bells.

My question is why? Should I just run this 30 year old unit with some new batteries or buy a new Magasine 3-4000 inverter for the 2k I don't want to spend? Anyone use this old inverter?

It still functions as it should, just not puresine.

Heart was not made by Xanex or Trace.  A lot of people used to have them years ago.  If it still works I would keep it

Bird, I have a Heart 2000 of around the same vintage and it works great. I have dedicated outlets that have the TV's, Dish Box (not anymore-got rid of Dish) and all the accessory chargers-phones, Ipads. laptops, flashlights, etc. It's still doing a bangup job maintaining the house batteries too (set at 13.2V). Current set of house batteries going on 10 yrs (6V golf cart Lead Acids). Long story short-If it ain't broken, don't fix it. (Unless there's a specific need for pure sine).

   Hi;
     I have a trace 2524 that has served me well for over 25 years. That was before
     Xantrex bought them out.  I agree with PP,  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I've had a couple of Heart Freedom 25s.  I'm not familiar with the particular model you have but if its anything close to my Freedoms you won't do any better.

The last thing I would ever want to do is hurt you.
Its the last thing but its still on the list.

Thanks for the input guys!

I will ultimately upgrade to a larger inverter - 3-4k. I did some basic math and between a few electronic I just don't think I have enough "Safe" output power. I plan to eventually go completely Off-Grid at my land so I think I'm justifying the switch a bit. If anyone wants this beast I would be willing to find it a new home. I don't really want any money for it, maybe the chance to meet another busnut, or have someone school me on this tank in my driveway, BC I seem to learn new things often.

If you are in the Cincinnati are, feel free to reach out!
