Has anyone put a Proximity Sensor setup on the back of their bus or toad?
If so how did it work?

My wife backed into the baler with her car the other day so I am trying to figure out something for the bus. I already have a
portable backup camera but would like some sound warning system for when she drives the bus.

   Thanks

I've bought one for the bus, but haven't actually fitted it yet. When I do, I will make sure I fit a switch so I can turn it off - having driven cars with them fitted it is disconcerting when the alarm goes off unexpectedly - for example, when you are sitting stationary in a queue and another car pulls up behind you.

I actually got the alarm for the bus to fit facing sideways on the rear edge of the front bumper; when at home my bus is parked alongside a wall and must be reversed out around a fairly tight corner. When concentrating on the reversing manouvre I have more than once clipped the wall with the front bumper as the front end swings sideways in the turn.

A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.

Is there any reason you couldn't set one of those up with multiple sensors so you could cover the back plus both front corners?

The last thing I would ever want to do is hurt you.
Its the last thing but its still on the list.

these sensors are available aftermarket from numerous manufacturers.

most OEM units are linked to the reverse gear so they are only active when backing....so they don't go off in traffic.

no reason you could not modify them for additioanl sensors Most come with 4 I think although the wiring harness will have to be modified as well as none are intended to go 40 feet
