I have a PowerTech 8kW genset powered by a Kubota 3-cyl diesel.

Altho it's in a soundbox, it's still pretty noisy.

I'm thinking about remote mounting the radiator, roughly 12 feet away from the bay where the genset's installed.

Anybody know if the stock water pump on the Kubota has enough "umph" to push the coolant that distance, or should I use a supplemental pump?

My last two coaches have a remote radiator and do not use a supplemental circulating pump for the coolant. My first coach also had a remote radiator but it had a small HW circulating pump from WW Grainger to assist with coolant flow. It was 120V powered and was fed power when the generator was running.

You will be fine just pipe it where there is no place to cause a air pocket,keep the radiator tank above engine and as few bends as possible

Had to redo mine (heat shut down) and cut out about 3 to 4 foot of hose out of system. Been giving me fits for years in this Texas summer heat.  Didn't take any chances and also installed a push auto electric fan in new radiator housing. My 15KW Kubota 4 cylinder diesel is on a pull out slide with radiator next to it in a separate housing. Don't even think I need the original blower set up  with this pusher fan as it moves a ton of air. Big blower (sucker) is still hooked up and using both. Can drop one if needed..

So is the pusher fan between the radiator and blower or outside position.

I had thought about the pumps, as long ago I seen one on a newel, believe it was and also where I seen the concept for blower on top of radiator. At the time asking about the pumps and was pointed correctly to Taco and the BG pump/circulators. Always been great information from the group.

My Powertech 10kw 4 cylinder Kubota is mounted next to the driver's seat like a front engine (albeit facing backwards). My remote radiator is under the driver's seat exhausting the hot air directly to the side of the bus. I use a single inlet squirrel cage blower with belt driven 2spd totally enclosed fan cooled 1/2hp motor. Works well-high speed during the day, low speed if needed at night for quiet operation. Then I have an inline 8" blower to push air through the cabinet. It works well, is quiet. How quiet? There was a motorhome parked across from me with an Onan 8kw "Quiet" Diesel. As I walked back to my bus, I couldn't hear my generator over his till I was within 10ft of my bus-that's quiet.
My truck will be double cabinet to make it even quieter. Good Luck, TomC

When you get to the Thayne, WY rally, Dick Wright "The Generator Man" from Wrico International will be here and he will be able to answer any unanswered questions you may have. He is arriving tomorrow.  I think it will be easier to just buy a new genset from Dick and we can install it here at the rally for you.  :D
