Still too much, sorry. But at least that first digit gets it into the ballpark.

Don, how much do you really think Marylin's bus is worth sure there are a few things that need to be finished like the new $8000 generator needs to be wired up.
All the appliances are new, brakes, engine, transmission are rebuilt and it goes on for ever the parts he replaced.
It sad when when a woman looses her husband and knows how much money was spent and just trying to recoup about 1/3 of the spent money and has to read this BS.
The only draw back to bus is the departed wanted a manual transmission that was his preference and used a more modern 5 speed.
I will go on record here if someone buys her bus and wants a automatic I will give the buyer a 740 for them to install, that bus may not be worth the asking price to you but it is worth her asking price + that all folks I hate getting pissed at 5 AM

If I were looking for a bus .I would jump all over this thing!! You know, the funny thing is ,folks will choke a paying 30 grand for a quality conversion ,that only needs a few things done to be completed, but will go pay 20 grand for a shell then sink at least 40 grand more in having it converted!! Go figure!!!!

That is a generous offer Cliff. I suspect that the frame had to be modified to fit the five-speed in, so an Allison might fit in without changes in the frame spacing.

Hi Clifford,

I understand the frustration when a seller can not get a fair price but the market is what it is. As a buyer, the fact the widow is trying to sell a bus adds zero value to the selling price.

The market for these used buses is very small to start with.RV ownership is estimated at 7.9 million households (http://www.rvia.org/?esid=trends). I'd venture to say 99% will not touch one of these. Probably even fewer than 1 in a 100. One tenth of 1% is still 7,900. That would be a high number of active bus nuts that own or are seriously looking for one.

There are many challenges to purchasing an old bus. No one will finance these; for that matter, coaches even older than 10 years start experiencing this. There are some folks who are able to afford up to $8k, we see plenty of them here with either very old converted coaches or a decent running shell. They are on the pay as you go plan, most taking some years to complete, some projects never see the road, stalled over the years for various reasons. Far fewer are able to write a cash check for $30,000 AND take on all the risks associated with these old buses. So, one needs to be realistic when estimating how many qualified buyers there are at prices north of $20K.

Total agreement that people have poured tens of thousands of dollars into their conversions. Unfortunately, that figure and what comes out the other end bear little correlation. Think of the money anybody spends over a couple years keeping the jalopy on the road. The receipts for that new radiator, rebuilt transmission, new flashy rims, and reupholstered seats are worth a big ZERO.  At the end of the day, a bus is a mechanical vehicle, a consumable and depreciating product.

One might say, the parts are worth more than the asking price. So true, but again, you have to look at the market. Other than a few things like a generator that could find a home in something other than a bus, there isn't much true market value in the other stuff. What I mean is you can buy that bus for $30k, knowing the parts are worth $40K. But think about parting it out and selling the parts to get your original spend back much less all the labor spent pulling parts and time and headache selling off the parts.

Anyway, Clifford, I truly understand. I mean a lot of Marilyns but the reality is the bus is only what a buyer will pay. It's a very very small group. That said, with more aggressive marketing it would fetch more and get sold. If it is only listed in the BCM classified, it is needs a boost getting it out there.

After reading all the expert opinions, I'm shocked. I thought I bought a appreciating asset.  ::) Heck you can't buy a nice pick up for $30,000. But the Bus Guru's know the game.

Lots of bus for the money.  Sorry about her dead husband.  A Fuller T905 would suit me just fine thank you.  But .... no money.  Sorry.
