I checked my tires last summer after the bus had sat for months.  I was shocked to find that I didn't need to add any air after sitting that long.  I have the Pressure Pro TPMS and it shows the current pressure.

I have no issues with the TPMS on my car either.  It will show a low tire alert almost right after I start the car if there is an issue.  It doesn't show which tire or the current pressure, but sure better than nothing.  The most common alert is because the tires will get low when the temperatures start to fall in the Fall.

The pre-run check is very valuable to physically check for tire damage and wear. TPMS is highly valuable as it provides real time monitoring and alerting of tire pressure and temperature. Having this info can be life saving if you know a tire develops a problem while on the road and pressure and/or temperature are affected. And as you see, the stock ones in autos is nothing like the aftermarket ones.
