Looking for the dolly that hooks to the bus and the trailer is attached to that so there is no tongue weight on the bus. Some one had one last year at the damn rally, any help would be appreciated.

Cliff, I think Don Smith bought his and paid something like $4,000 or more for it. It was a nice one and he liked how it handled.  However it must be a bit of a challenge to back up eh? :-)

Gary -

I don't know about Don's tow dolly, but the Trailer Toad is pretty simple to back up with.

You drop a pin into a hole that locks everything in place, so it basically becomes an extended, fixed, non-pivoting tag axle.

Once your ready to go forward, you pull the pin and off you go.

(Obviously, you don't pull the pin if you're just doing some slow-speed back & forth, like wiggling into a campsite or parking area.)

If I was to tow a trailer, regardless of the tongue weight, I'd spend the $$ for this Trailer Toad model.  IMHO, it's inexpensive insurance compared to what could happen to a coach chassis:

Don emailed me today and was telling me that guy is very good to work with on the trailer-toad. There are two versions. One is more heavy duty than the other which is the one he got and he mentioned he had them modify it the way he wanted it.And he said yes you just insert a pin to back up and it backs up very easily. Travels like a dream. About $5,000.00 was the price after the mods he made to it.

Here a picture Don sent me of Clifford trying to steal it when he wasn't looking....... :o ;D

I understand that people have been talking about me and making disparaging remarks about my friend Clifford.  Must be something in the water or just bored beyond belief because of the heat, I dunno?  At the risk of being labeled a "A-Hole or some other misnomer" I will say this.

Clifford is alright, he knows more than me in several areas of life b'sides just buses.  He lives where it is warm.  He points out the obvious, what he considers right and wrong, and takes the heat when those who are doing the right and wrong don't like it.

Another thing I don't like is it seems he is the real deal, he isn't a cheap bus community poser or wanna-be type of fellow.  Unfortunately for LuvRbus that irks posers and wanna-be's.

What does a bus poser actually do other than dream of doing something, owning something, attending something, getting elected to something.

What would they do with their time when they were done cutting and posting on the Internet, or opining on all the material that other people put up? (posers seldom contribute they just criticize)

What would the profile of a bus poser look like?

Here is a well intentioned guess.

The bus poser wanna-be bus nut expert guy seldom actually gets out on the American Highway.  With the current cost of high priced fuel, maxed out credit limits on his VISA card, it pretty likely he will seldom leave his home state or actually attend a bus meet, even when it is only 150 miles away.  First one to announce that he will "be there for sure" and then beg's off with some lame excuse at the last moment and never shows.

He sits in the comfort of his favorite easy chair, with his Rand McNally and dreams and schemes of trips yet to be taken.  Over a very short period of time he becomes a bus nut guru of sorts, (get three of them together and you have a qualified expert on any given subject in the world) in his little make believe universe.

Always the first to comment and the last word belongs to him ... His stuff is the best in the west.  He knows the cheapest cost of everything, but regrettably, the value of nothing.  As Frank Burns on Mash used to say ... It's lonely at the top. Sadly it is not easy being numero uno these days but someone has to do it.

Clifford tries, and I have heard it said, "he is number one on a lot of people's lists."  Strangely, this is something that I have aspired to all my life ... that ... and bowling a perfect game.  Which of course is but a dream.  I will never bowl a perfect game, it is completely out of my reach.

But I could very well achieve the lofty status someday on a bus board.  All I have to do is learn how to baffle them with BS, because I sure don't have a lot of what some would consider brilliance.

There might be hope for Clifford and at the same time for me.

We share some common traits, we are both good looking, we are outspoken, we have buses and neither one of us knows when to shut up.  But I am going to keep on being the guy I am, because I cannot be Clifford, and I know it would be wasting the me that I already am.

Most likely none of this will never happen because we both get easily distracted while we sit patiently in our assigned chairs in God's Waiting Room and watch the parade of life roll by.

"Hey look Cliffy ... there goes a squirrel!"

I will now return you to your amusements.  Watch those Right-Handers.

Don -

Dave was the one talking about you.  He commented on how you shared with him that the guy who builds Trailer Toads is easy to work with, and made the changes on yours that you requested.

I thought that was great information, especially since I wasn't aware that that was the particular brand you had. . .

Of course, he then threw in the photo of Clifford to set off the troops. . .

At least Ed got the info he wanted about the Trailer Toad before the shenanigans began!
