PD4106 Throttle Cable - Can't get it back in

Richard, how did you make out with your 4106 throttle cable?

Does anyone know where I can get a 4104 throttle cable?

I got it to work well enough that I could drive to the local Interstate repair shop. Had to keep my shoe off so that I could pull the pedal back up with my toes though.

I have a few other issues that I wanted them to look at (like my Jake brake not engaging) so it seemed best to me to just let them have a go at the throttle cable. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Brief update...

Seems the problem with the cable was bigger than I would ever have solved. The tech at Interstate put in quite a few hours to get it going. Last I spoke to them, one of the major problems was likely a screw which had worked itself through the cable tube. My guess is that someone used screws for the sub-floor which were too long and which poked down through the floor and near the cable tube. Over the years, the screw tip broke through the tube and caused interference.

The tech was able to separate a union joint in the tube near the screw. He ground the end of a long (12") screw to make a cutting edge, and then was able to 'roto-rooter' the blockage out. There were a few other problems he found with the cable, but I've not had a chance to get all the details.

Hopefully having a freely moving throttle cable will also help my Bendix cruise work better. Previously it took two tons of effort to depress the pedal, so the cruise should have a much easier time keeping up now.

So, lesson of the day is to be sure screws holding down the sub-floor are not too long.

Nice to hear you have a tech working on it that can solve difficult issues with injunity instead of just throwing up their hands.

Yeah - Overall I'm quite impressed with the guys at Interstate. I originally chose them after reading the Technomadia blog post they wrote about an engine rebuild. Their work was done at another Interstate location, but I hoped that the dedication to quality carried system wide. It does in Butler (Milwaukee) Wisconsin.

They are also working to piece together my gauges and a few other items. I'll report again when things are complete.
