Series 60/B500 in to early 90's Prevost, Newell

Read with interest "Hard Headed Ken" post about the issues with putting a series 60/B500in to an early 90's Prevost XL. (tag axle issues) http://www.busconversions.com/bbs/index.php?topic=12909.15
Does anyone know if the early 90's H340's have the same tag mounting issues as the XL's when trying to install 60/B500?
I've never been under an early 90's Newell and wondering if they have a same issue. I understand that Newell make their own frames but have never seen the configuration.  Newell started installing series 60's in 1994 but wondering if they changed frame/ suspension mounting to accomplish this?

Early H-40 had the same problem unless it had the H-41 tag axle with the different offset they came with both style tag axles in 93 and 94.
Kent did a good job on the tag when he installed the Cummins in the Prevost Kenny Polk owns now have him send photos from F/B ,Newell it should not make a difference.Did you buy the H-40 ?

Thanks Clifford. Still haven't bought anything else since the last of those 3 xl's left last week. LOL. I still have that 95 xl with rebuilt series 60/B500 with 3000 miles on it and am looking at various options. The H340 is a 1991 frame so guessing it will have same issues as the XL then.

I know where a burned H-40 is that has the right tag I'll check and see if he still has the tag it had a 11.1 series 60 from the factory

The 95 XL I have has the right tag, but don't know if I want to do the work to put it in to the H3-40. The "boss" just wants to get up and go.
Engine change is not a big deal, but reconfiguring suspension may be for me.

Guy's:Another stupid question :I have a 1993 Prevost chassis .Interestingly enough ,altho mine has the 8v92tadls engine ,the literature that came with this bus actually describes the  engine as a series 60 .Does this mean that a series 60 should replace the engine in mine without a lot of complications???

Maybe,maybe not Prevost used the tags and engines they had on hand at that time

While the Series 60 is an excellent engine, it also is physically tall. An easier switch would be to use a Cummins ISM. Good Luck, TomC

Height is no problem in a Prevost for a 60 series

I owned a '90 H3-40 with a factory S60.  It was ex Pacific Western and we bought it because it had a S&S wheel chair lift and we needed another chair car.  Don't remember the serial no.

Thanks Mark...I will have to go for a drive and check under the H3-40 I have my eye on to see how the tag is set up.
