Many thanks to all who came to our aid in Quartzsite. Cliff after correcting my dumb mistake of having one of the valves turned the wrong way when I primed it, it now runs like it should. Coming home from Q I just had to keep it under 2100 RPM. My special thanks to David for all his help in getting the new fan belt off and on, wound up having to push the rear bumper out a half inch, don't know how I managed that. Also to Mike for setting it up so we could make our spectacular entrance on a $195000 truck and trailer. Cliff you were a fantastic help in your knowledge and willingness to jump in. Your assessment was correct on that valve, I am going to take it off and plug the hole with a plug. Geoff I thank you again for all the time and help you gave me over the phone. We have been to this rally twice once in the Jeep and once on the trike when we were with other 4 wheel drive friends so not to many people knew us. This year all that changed as I don't think there was one guy not lined up to see us come in. To all the other people who gave us moral support and suggestions thanks to you also. We will be there next year.
Had a great time. I sure learned a lot more about a 8V92.

So Ed is that GRAND entrance going to be your annual theme from now on?

Most of you probably know this...... I found out the hard way when putting a pump on an 8V-71 that the pump will not self-prime.  Luckily it was on a towboat and easy to get to.  You have to prime the pump before it will lift fuel from the tank.  Some people prime the pump with ATF before installing it on the engine.

No BK I only make this kind of grand entry once, I Hope. Yes when Geoff change the fuel pump he primed it

Yes, the fuel pump on a two-stroke Detroit is a gear pump, so it is not self priming like a diaphram fuel pump.  It is more like an oil pump, if you are familiar with engines.  I'm glad Ed made it home, and thanks to everyone who helped him.  I would have made Quartzsite myself in my bus, but I have been laid up for the last four months with a back injury.

Good job, Dave.  Appreciate you posting the video's so we can
all enjoy this event.  Will try to make the trip next year.
                                    Thanks,  Merle.

Some of us will do anything to make a grand entrance so every one will know who we are. Glad to provide the entertainment and again thanks to all who helped.

It was interesting to see the driver never get in the cab of the truck until it was done. He did everything remotely as he was walking around doing things and watching what the truck and trailer were doing to include move the truck forward at the end of it all. Pretty neat vehicle.
Kind of felt like a  Boy seeing a fire truck for the first time. I wanted to get in there and play with the controls. That probably wouldn't have been good!...... ;D
