the new spare belt I carry is 8g-27-5 and I got it from mci but when I google it it is 119" and mci say it is good for my 6v92 ta or 8v71

it took 3 weeks to get it from them but then again that might be because I live way way up north in per ma frost country

Well Scott as you know all ready it's a CX 120 at least the 2 I had hanging on the wall had CX 120 on them the 3rd one which is a brand new belt has no #'s at all on it.
One of the ones that has a # on it is a Gates (the Gates has a tag on it with the 8G-27-5 zip tied to it also!) and the other is an off brand made in Holland/Denmark.

Your welcome to all 3 of them but one of them has a deep cut in what appears to be a fairly new belt! (I don't run MCI's anymore but have kept the belt in case someone needed them in an emergency)

Thanks anyway Bryce, I just drove 2 1/2 hours and almost 200 miles one way to pick one up at the Napa in Phoenix. I have it and I'm on my way back to the bus right now which is still on the side of the highway. I'm going to put the belt on, and hopefully have no more issues getting into the RV park we're scheduled to be at in Tucson tonight. But thank you so much Bryce!

Hey no problem I was headed to the shop to work on my Sprinter anyway!

What I hoped was going to be an easy fix by changing trans fld & filter didn't work out so I closed up shop and came home to come up w/plan B.
Right now looks like plan B will be the old tried & true '95 Chevy G30 15 passenger not as nice or comfortable as the Sprinter, but it will get them there and home!

Hey it's better than walking :-) can someone chime in on tightening the belt? What amounted to flexion should there be from side to side should I just do it really really tight? I do not want to slip this belt and mess it up it's the last one within 200 miles

To be rechecked in short order.
.015" per 1" of one side o.c. span, this in general.
No doubt this needs re checked in 5 minutes of run time, then monitored.

I'm sure your lookin for any items that may be a cause and or tore up from the belt break.
When after a good 5 minute run time it would be perfect if the v-belt had about the same amount on both sides and about .75"
These big dog belts run on the sides of the belt and don't need to be banjo string tight, more like a bass.
if there is no obstructions they can have "a lot" of slop, a 120 is a short belt : )
goodluck and roll on

Thanks gents. New belt was installed and I got back on the road. It was a 5 hour nearly 400 mile round trip from Wilcox to Phoenix to get the only belt available today within 200 miles. But we got it on her, I tightened it up. Started coach and let it idle. Shut down and then tightened a bit more. And we finally made it into our rv resort after dark tonight. Two security staff were kind enough to spot me while I pulled into the site. Will spend three days here and then off to Palm Springs California.

I have always had better luck sourcing parts at Car Quest on the road to BFE... Always consider them if there is one nearby.  :)

In a pinch, panty-hose will get you to the next town.  But it is better to carry a spare.

What ever it takes to get you there.

What happened to the emergency belts that you can piece together for the right length? Are those made anymore, and could you use it on that long fan belt?

Spare belt is on the list but I'm waiting to hear back from
Luke on getting a smaller fan pulley and then I'll buy two of those belts (whatever size that comes to)
