Good afternoon,

Thinking of trying the weBoost (previously Wilson) as I need to stay connected to work as I travel.  Especially data.

This is for cell.  I have a yagi wifi antenna that helps fine w/ local park WAPs, but I want to try something to help w/ my Verizon data.

I was thinking of the OTR Trucker setup as I didn't want to mess w/ the metal plate setup required for the RV product, plus I liked the fact that any CB radio hardware mount would work as a mount for the trucker setup.  Plus their techs recommended it as well.  Just slightly more pricey.

Only thing I can find more extensive than this would be some of the high end satellite setups but those run some high $$

Any experiences, thoughts?  Thanks as always kind bus folks!

Phil send me the 6,400.00 for the satellite and you can borrow my cell phone to get the internet. We have T-Mobil which was just bought by Verison and no problems so far. We switched from Sprint and it is 149.00 a month for two phone lines and whatever phone you buy is billed in payments each month unlimited service text calling anywhere and no data charges. Then you get Jump for another 10.00 a month and it covers your phones as insurance. If you phone is half paid for with Jump and you damage your phone lose it, drop it in your black tank it gets replace or upgrade to a new one at that point. Check it out. ;D I am not affiliated with them in anyway (Disclaimer) just what we did. We can tether it for up to 5 devices.

We use the 4g booster.  It works well but no need to boost 4g. When you need a booster theres no 4g anywhere to be had.  It works great when your at a park with 1 bar of service outside the bus.  Boosts it up to about 3 bars inside.

Theres a whole bunch of technical jargon to go along with this that I could try to explain here but its late and Im drinkin beer so no need.  Go read the technomads write up.

One thing I will say is get the antenna for the office not the mobil antenna.  The office antenna will cover our bedroom.  The mobil antenna wont cover anything unless you are sitting right on it.  Like literally my phone has to be lying on top of the antenna.

Get this one...

We bought the office antenna on ebay for 12$

Will check it out, thanks all!

I need to maintain a number of connections so standard cell doesn't quite cut it.  Unless I want early retirement.   :o

Who's your cell provider? I have t-mobile and they sent me a free cell spot amplifier that works awesome and it is specifically setup for all the bands they use. I know at&t also has a version and I believe verizon but not sure on that one. T-mobile sent it to me for free. If I have 1 bar in a window it will boost to full signal and works throughout the entire bus .
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

We have AT&T the phone co did a software upgrade on Sonja's Samsung S-6 phone we now have great data and internet service always 4 bars on the hot spot even when the phone is just showing 1 bar. You turn the hot spot on it will jump to 4 bars. Now the battery doesn't last as long so we just leave it on the docking charger when using the internet because the service gets weaker when the battery is under 50% on her phone

I have the Wilson small office booster (small thin panel that can mount anywhere) and uses a sort antenna on the roof.  Works well.

Thanks all for the advice.

When I called Verizon last time they actually recommended Wilson.  However, it has been a while and I'm going to call them again.  Not that I'm cheap   ;D   But I would like to know re: available booster.

From what I'm hearing so far it sounds like we're on the right track.

Just got off the phone w/ Verizon.  No free lunch and no chicken in every pot from VZW.  They immediately referred me to the weboost site, which is of course the Wilson / weboost.com site that I started working with.

Also have purchased technomadia's book - kindle edition  "The Mobile Internet Handbook - 2016 US RVers Edition" to stay up on the subject.  (Amazon).

this is the system I have and it works very good . 1 outside antenna at the back on the roof and the inside antenna at the front window . I use a hot spot with in inches from the inside unit . kind of funny at a state park when you see people outside near the coach using there phone because they got a signal ???

With an eye on the full time rv mission and working from anywhere, I came up with this solution, which, I've installed, and of late have been putting through the notions, as for me, data is tantamount to my being able to conduct business, without data, I have no business. What I have installed in my bus  that uses the connection is two multi line full branch exchange phones, that depend on the connection, a fax machine (and being a cord cutter, my live TV services, slingTV). The advantages to this approach are huge and beyond the scope of this post, if you have any questions after checking out the link, let me know, last month, I carried a little over 90 gigs via AT&T, trouble free.

You would want to stick to this SPECIFIC model/version only.

Hope this helps.

Humm.  The good thing is that if you spend this kind of money you will be doubling the value of that old bus of yours.  ;D  Now if you had the Moose Creek Cabin with S/N 001, then you would have something there.  :D
