Is the Atwood Air Command A/C any good?

Scott- I just had two installed on an educational trailer we use and they work great. The old ones had heat strips but the Atwoods with the heat pumps crank heat as well as cold. As you know the price is high, but your question was "any good" which is absolutely. The speed on the fans seems to be more variable, which doesn't "slam" on or off like the old Dometics did.

Scott -

Go with the low profile coleman Mach 8's.  They look much sexier than the boxy rooftops

We just bought a second one and replaced the coleman Mach 3 on the back so we have matching ones now.   With 2 15k units running on high AC we got the bus down from 96 degrees to 78 degrees in about 40 minutes sitting in full sun.

Is one of them quieter than the others?

I don't really know as I am more concerned about cooling performance.

I would probably look at the Coleman Mach 8 if I was buying today.  I was not aware of the Mach 8 at the time I bought the Atwood.

It is my understanding that both Coleman and Dometic are having issues.Coleman more so than Dometic.The new Dometics are made in------------------------------- CHINA!!!

The Atwood were made in China too!!! my Dometic Penguin I was having trouble with (2) were made in Mexico with Chinese parts and were junk for a 1 year old AC units

I don't know if you can buy one made in US anymore.  I'm building a new shop (for work) and had to pull the building A/C out of the procurement because no one could meet the 100% Buy America requirement.  Couldn't use federal money to buy it.
