Just what I said, there is a box that you put the HP in and it doesn't do anything to the program. Someone my think that means something. You have to add fuel to the engine to make power. You can add all the fuel that you want and make lots of smoke but no more power. Takes two things to make power fuel and air. Then one more, The ability on the engine to use the fuel and air.
The best you can do is to put in as much as you can with the least smoke. None of us know how much power we are running unless we put it on a dyno. When ever anyone tells you something else (don't believe them). Remember that box that the HP goes in.

Frignn HP is for drag racing, on a diesel engine the torque is what you are after no more no less. I am after 1950 ft lbs on a long power curve and a dyno comes in real handy tweaking a engine for air to fuel ratio and fuel burn

When you consider that the Series 50 is a 12.7 liter Series 60 with 2 cylinders lopped off, the highest truck rating on the 12.7 was 575hp. That converts to 383hp in the 4 cylinder. Good Luck, TomC

Also 1850 torque was the highest in the S-60 which converts to 1233 torque in the S50

My 6V92 with 9G90 injectors is rated at 1050 ft/lb of torque. My bus weighs 27000 lbs, and it goes pretty good. But when I tow the car, which puts me up at 32000 lbs + or -, it doesn't feel so great any more. So I am thinking the same power in a MC9 or similar weight bus isn't very much... When I used to drive a 102D3 with pre egr 12.7 L Series 60, that went up the hills with the cars, blowing the doors off any truck, loaded or empty.

The only advantage of a S50 over a 2 stroke like the 6V92 is that it only puts out half the heat. Then the mechanical versus electronic factor is a debatable subject...

I think you are right on with your HP and Torque. Sure would love to get it on a dyno and see for sure what it has. But who cares, it sure runs great

The series 50 is a good but not a great engine IMO,they hang around for a while @ 370 hp the 11.1 series 60 most of those are 350 to 370 hp with 2 more cylinders.Chads was a true 425 hp series I watched it tested on a dyno, talking to him last night he going with a 12.7 series 60 this was his 2nd series 50

What kind of coach was this engine in? Was the dyno on the engine or at the wheels? Where is this dyno, i haven't been able to find one that I can put the coach on.

His engine is in a Eagle 10 the dyno is in Albuquerque at a friends place it was a engine dyno.If you are ever in my part of the world Mohave Valley AZ
I have another friend that has a chassis dyno but you have to take full responsibility for damages he doesn't like to dyno buses

We have life in the MCI 9 again

The 50 series is up and running, we had a few wiring glitches but she finally took off. We have a trip planned for Memorial day weekend for about six months now and I sure thought I was going to have to cancel but with a couple days to go we got her going. Just got to put the hitch and bumper back on and tie up some loose wires. I still have some cleaning up of the wiring mess but that can wait till we come back. took a short video and put it on face book, not sure how to do a video on here

The last build of the 8V-71TA by Detroit with N80 injectors was 400hp and 1200lb/ft torque.
Since I kept the high compression pistons (two piece pistons with tight transit bus rings) we kept the injector to a 7G75 and turbo boost to 15psi. I'm dynoe'd at 375hp and 1125lb/ft torque. A heck of an increase over an N65 natural engine at 304hp and 800lb/ft torque. And yes, torque gets you over the hill. Good Luck, TomC

we referred to it quite a bit probably more than the DD book lol
Took it for a short ride last night and things seemed to be working pretty good.
