Wife drives the bus

I have to say I'm thankful to have a 5 foot wife willing to drive the bus and toad wherever. Recently she drove 500 miles almost non-stop. This week she drove the old bus and toad 300 miles while I followed her in the 102C3 to my in laws house where we are converting the 102 this summer. Some cool pics and video

No doubt about it Scott, you have a keeper. Some of us have trouble getting the wife to ride that far!

Lol. She's amazing and I love her dearly. Yes cliff, I have the others inside the luggage bay. But I kinda like the look. If I don't like my neighbors I'll park it so the steelies face them....lol. I have all the studs and lugs nuts and I have two of the three 24.5" for that side. Just trying to find one more at a decent price. Only bummer is the tires are excellent...now I have to buy four tires just to fit the alcoas. 😩

If you are not aware, when looking for more wheels, remember that there are two styles of wheels: hub centric, or stud centric. Hub style type is the most common now, but on the older buses they might be stud centered with the chamfered stud holes and nuts. It is harder to find the stud centered ones now, many have been scrapped.

Yeah my set up is all stud piloted. So I've been looking for the ones with the tapered hole. I only need one more if I can just get it I'm all set :-)

I fixed that, I meant stud piloted. Sorry, it was late. Everything on my 102 is stud piloted..

Then you will have a harder time finding them. Get at least one extra beyond the spare in case a wheel cracks around the bolt holes (it happened to me). There will be slight differences in the appearance between Firestones and Alcoas. The torque setting is different between them as well (hub vs stud centered).

Ok. I'll keep and extra in storage if I can find one. Are they more prone to cracking than hub piloted?

I would say so, based on my experience. It could be why they went to the other design with the wider base nuts and the straight hole. I imagine that the tapered hole edge and tapered nuts put sideway stresses on the metal that are not there on the hub centered. I had a front wheel that developed a crack between two bolts. Check your wheels carefully for any hairline cracks. To change over to the other type would require different hubs, apparently.

Yeah so true. These rims are getting harder to find.i absolutely must find one more by August or I'm driving our bus with one steelie this fall
