It's all fun and games til someone gets hurt. ;)

This is a great idea unless you have a great big engine under your bed like I do.  I never understood why they would design buses and put the engine right under the bed.  Makes no sense to me.   :o

That is what I have in our bus. I thought it was pretty common in bus conversions.

Lift beds are in almost every rear bed rv. Very commonplace. We did one better, we raised our bed to loft height so there's a huge room underneath our bed where we store a ton of things. Including a chest freezer:

Great Idea Scott but for us folks over 60 into our 70's climbing or trying to bend over to get into that space just may not be possible. Great idea though.

Lift bed up and have storage under mine as well.  Mine has gas jacks or struts to keep it up so you have both hands to move stuff in and out. Never use it.

My bed is raised also. But instead of storage, I have 130gal water tank, 2-10gal electric water heaters, water hot and cold manifold valve system, 2-water pumps. Makes for all plumbing above the floor line.
On my truck, the entire bedroom is raised to make enough room below for a car (like a Toyota Yaris or Mini). Good Luck, TomC

Yea, a lot of buses and RV have raised bed storage.  And a alot of different things in them.  I had not seen one where you walk in and the drawers open to the inside.  Some have drawers that open to the out side but are hard to get to against the wall.

Do it your way, :-)

Ahh, ok I see what you mean. It actually is less efficient use of space because you are reserving a walkway where you would normally store items.

Great idea!

Scott-- If my bed were that high, I would hurt myself getting out!

On mine, the base platform is inset 8" so you can walk around the bed without stepping on your own feet.
I tried to figure a way to make it a "murphy bed", but the roof is not tall enough, and the curved rear and the engine cover of the 4905 prevent tilting up the queen bed.

Our lifts up also from one end but has an electric actuator. I am in the process of rewiring it so it actually works again but it takes a lot of room up. We only store sheets and pillows and things we don't need to get to very often.
