In the bus industry, steering stabilizer mechanisms are considered a band-aid repair to cover up something that's worn out of specs.

Never seen in revenue service vehicles, which tells you something.

Some people swear by them. I would like to install one to see how well it works for wander. Tire blowout...hopefully I'll never know

I have had the Steer Safe on my bus for many years and they do not stop wander or correct for worn out parts but they do stop the chance of a wreck in the event of a blow out. A lot of trucking companies have them on their trucks. I had a flat tire on the drivers side front and I had no idea it was flat till a trucker called on the CB to let me know. There was no pull on the steering wheel at all so I guess the Steer Safe did it's job but cost me a tire. Now I have Tire Minder pressure detection system on the bus and tow vehicle.

They are not essential, but they are included with some models of RV's and they are on my Ford Diesel Duallies, so there must be some value to them. It might be mostly for the bottom line of the parts suppliers though. If you have a flat on a bus with manual steering you might wish you had a few in that moment, but if you have power steering you should be able to control.

Thanks for the response. I don't have a steering problem. I just think it would help if I had a blow out. ???
