On a DDEC the tach is wire 505 , the tach  feeds from cavity K-1 on the 30 way connector from the connector forward is the OEM responsibility,if K-1 has a plug in the cavity then it is not wired for a tachometer, remove the plug and install a DD connector with a wire to the front then you have power for a tach if it is a DDEC

Jim if your looking around that ddec/ecm on your motor, the passenger side has the carefully tightened wire connectors keeping them in place.
If no wire, a rubber plug is used to seal that cavity and common.

Ah, that is why I posted the easiest way because I never had gotten into any engine electronics so I pretty much know jack about any ECMs.

Probably should have said first, Im positive that computer system doesn't support any blue tooth tech, or any global monitoring. I could be wrong on monitor, but not worth considering if it did have it. Only outfit that if avail may have had that would've beenDoD

If one could score a "pro-link" diagnostic tool that was updated and cheap, I would make myself a happy camper, and I would just keep it hooked up for cool factor 8)
So I think a schematic just to save on new wire runs from rear to front is best point to start, and heck most likely some banded already, and able to "unhook" to use.

If one wants to be independent of ddec because it doesn't have a whole lot in earlier years, but more than many then. ( I mean the blinking code light ) uh! totally cool and welcomed even now.
Crazy you can buy a can-bus diagnostic monitor for cars for under a Benny but not ddec.

So anyway an option worth checking out and some use I'm sure around here is VDO.
A call to VDO and using one of their Tachs with a flywheel/bellhousing magnetic pickup sensor.
good luck! if ya find some good stuff keep us posted

I use a OBD ll scanner on a DDEC 1,I was never able to find a Kent/Moore reader for the early DDEC they only made a 1000 of the scanners and I have a friend that has number 2

With buying one it's a good idea to have the adapter for a 12 pin dlc for my 92model, maybe the newer models have one of the circle shape data link connectors. I wish I had purchased my last innova scanner with some other adapters.
Is that scanner give fault codes and some other likes, maybe ddec edition. curious there
Thanks
