What is that absolute easiest way to install a tach on a 6V92 including bluetooth, hard wired and whatever else system there may be out there? Of course it should be fairly accurate too. This is based on there never was a tach installed in the first place.

Does the left cam have a cap on the outside or a plate that is where most drive from with a pulse generator or you can drive it off the back of the blower if the cover is there, then the least favorite place of mine is off the R terminal on the alternator

On a mechanical diesel you can do a mechanical tach, mechanical to electric sensor, or electric tach from the alternator.  If your engine doesn't have a cam drive on the front gear cover or a blower drive already, make up a strap across the front cam pulley, install a cable drive and get a 1:1 cable drive tachometer.  Or install a tach drive transponder instead of a cable drive and get an electric tach (works better if you want the tach up front as opposed to in the engine bay with a cable).  Or if your alternator has an R-terminal, get a suitable electric tach and figure out the conversion you need based on how fast your alternator is geared to spin.

How simple it is depends on your attitude towards bodging.  I personally would do a cable drive tach and leave it in the engine compartment (or just attach it when I wanted to tune up the engine).  My engine has a blower drive tach drive, and I have a cable drive tach or two, so I just need to make an adaptor.  I have no need of a tach for actual driving around.

You can use the magnetic pickup also, your 6v92 may have a plug you remove on the left side above the motor mount on the bell housing to remove and install the magnetic pickup some engines have one some don't but there will be a indent to drill and tap

Not familiar yet, but as above I would first look into available ddec type signals already plug playable. Or where plugs maybe and if that signal type can be used, I think that's what you meant, so I will take a look around just for interest maybe can help. The Allison is a question also in some models not sure there. Sometimes signals also could be tapped from a treadle module on some, just a thought there.

Ok, so for the DDEC II 8v92 is there already a place to connect a tach?

If you have a DDEC II or newer just buy a Silverleaf then you have a tach, plus a whole host of information at your fingertips.

Do they cost more than what I paid for the bus?

Lee that is seriously cool, but it has to wait it's turn in line for my build up. Again back to the hard work and sweat.
Though I would like to see another pic of it during the 60 series holeshot   ;D

I use a magnetic sensor off the front pulley of the engine using two magnets and setting the tach at two to one.  Check with Isspro. 100% accurate.

Accurate and simple, both of which are good things in my estimation.

luvrbus, is this the spot you were thinking of?

thx much  :)

(also, shouldn't there be a plug there regardless? there isn't one now)

Relatively cheap

An engineers dream panel!
Is it hard wired from the pick up(s) to the panel or BT or other radio wave?

Mine has that hole on drivers side plugged with plastic plug.
Its a hard wired setup, some how in with our ddec, they show to have a junction stud connection in the front and rear box's.
possibly A,C,D stud in rear and circuits 18a, C, D,
with descriptions: tach or speedo on A with b-w wire
tachometer    on C with w-b wire
tach or speedo on D with brn-w wire
I think its lower right connected on rear jct box housing possibly.
Not sure on cam or blower drive signal pickup location

I'm looking at some of this wiring from an 89 mc9 and that for sure could be updated, possibly. so consider that with a cold one and a look see
