Tube dimensions

I'm planning on raising the roof on my '86 MC9 in the spring. Does anybody know the ID an OD of the vertical tubing by the side windows?

Mine was 1-3/4 outside. Never measured the inside, but wall thickness appeared to be about 1/16".

Wish I could remember. I raised the roof 9" on our mci 9. But can't remember the tube size. But we went with tube that was small enough to slide inside the coach tube

May I ask why you want to raise the roof?

I'm 6'5" is my main reason but it will make room for lights, wires, ducting and whatever I can't think of right now.

That's exactly what I was going to do. I thought about pre making the extensions, 8" or 9" in length having the smaller tube sticking out both ends then plug and seam welding the pieces into the bus tube.

something that made it easier for us was to weld tabs on the tube at precisely the same places so that we could literally drop them in, the tab would act as a stop so they would all sit inside the bus tube at exactly the same height and then we went around and barely tack welded them in. Then we lowered the roof back down and slide the roof tube over the extension tube and once we had our leveling right etc, we welded everything up. Was remarkably easy actually.

As for raising the roof, it adds value to the coach, makes it feel MUCH larger inside, adds headroom, adds the ability to insulate more than just a couple of inches, and adds the ability to duct your roof a/c hidden. You can stand upright and look out your windows...tons of reasons. Most professionally converted coaches had their roofs raised...this is quite common to do and both of our MCI buses have roof raises. One at 9" we did and the other one at 8"

The only bad thing about a roof raise is that it will keep you off my special road   The Blue Ridge Parkway

several tunnels are to low even Huggy has to go through the middle of the road.

by the way it was about 2 degrees wind chill this morning.

Hate I missed Arcadia this year.

Brrrr. Uncle Ned, well, I suppose if I wanted to traverse blue ridge parkway, I'd ride along in Huggy bear we missed Arcadia too. May be the last one with bill and Brenda out
