Does it make a difference where the coolant temperature gauge sender is threaded into the passenger-side thermostat housing on a 6V92?   I screwed my new Speedhut gauge's sender into the spare 1/8" port in the top half of the housing, but I suspect it's now reading lower than the original Teleflex gauge's sender in one of the three 1/2" ports in the lower half of the housing.   Is the top half of the housing downstream of the thermostat itself?

I don't want to put the new Speedhut sender into one of the 1/2" lower ports because I want to reuse the old Teleflex gauge in the rear start panel, but if it's not reading accurately then I have no choice.

Thanks, John

John, I'm in the middle of putting 2 new temp sensors on my 8V92, one on each bank. I'm using the 1/2" ports under the thermostats, which puts the sensors on the engine side of the thermostats, I think that's the best place for them.  I'm connecting these to 2 new digital gauges.  Reading this forum has got me real wary of the temperature, I'm going to keep a close eye on it - both banks!

The best place (?) to put the gage senders would be where the temperature most accurately reflects the actual coolant temp inside the engine, especially close to or inside the head(s)?
