That engine was legendary in a pickup truck.  People still get more for a clean 2001 F350 Powerstroke than they do for a 2010.  Under powered, noisy, smoky, decent fuel mileage due to no power, but run forever.  About a thousand power levels to choose from if you count aftermarket.  I have friends with F350's that have run several hundred thousand miles towing 35K all over the eastern US and Canada with around 350 HP, and zero issues.  The bus depends on the bus company and what maintenance they did or didn't do.  After the rules came in that forced companies to retire school buses at 15 years old or whatever, two things happened.  They got built a lot lighter and cheaper, and they didn't get the maintenance for the last five years of their in-service life.  Result - trash buses for people to buy.  You need to be vigilant for that sort of thing.  I'd buy a real bus, but that's just me, I like MCI's
