Yes, a S50 is taller than a 6v92, but it does fit in a MCI...

Brian, If you need me to measure my engine or trans let me know.  I think your 754 is about 4-5 inches longer than a 740.  I think the 741, 747,748 are the same as the 740 but I may be wrong. I saved a few inches on my drive train by not using a flange at the transmission. I bought a yoke to slip in instead.  Good luck  Tom Y

Interesting idea ... A direct fit yoke would get me about 3-4".  Where did you get this yoke??  Could you measure your engine for me?  Please include the bell housing and front pulley/dampner at the same time.  Thanks a bunch!

I did some measuring and calling around ...

My current drive shaft from flange to flange is 28".  I talked to a local heavy duty truck repair shop and they said there would be no problem shortening my drive shaft down to 18".  With that informatoin I am now able to consider an M11 or L10e as well as the S50.  That opens up more possibilities if the S50 opportunity does not pan out for me.

On another note... I've been unable to find anyone locally who would be considered a DD 2 stroke mechanic to help me out on the side.  Sure are getting to be fewer and fewer mechanics with 2 stroke knowledge.  Bummer ....

Brian, Got the yoke used from a Allison dealer.  I may have one on this other trans, I will look. My L10 is 49 inches with bell housing. I do not have a pulley on the front, the mount is the longest part.  So 49 overall.  Tom Y
