Baggage hinges

So, dumb question.....
On my 4107 Babbage doors I still have the rubber hinges with one that broke and the others to follow with the torsion rods.  I really really like the way the doors go straight up rather than hinge out and up like gull wing doors. If I convert to stainless hinges and gas shocks will that change my doors to hinge out and up rather than the factory way of just up? Make sense?

The word you are looking for is pantograph bay door.

I dont know how much work it would be to convert from hinge to pantograph mechanisms but you would need to fabricate a top seal for them as your rubber hinge acts as the top seal.

I misread that I thought it was 4106 - sorry

So pantagraph is the factory opening style? I don't want to change the way they work, I don't want them swinging out, I like the closeness of their present operation

Are your doors all one piece or do they "fold" in the middle ?
Do your doors currently open with springs and cables ?

Yes, you have one-piece pantograph baggage bin doors on your 4107. 

Yes, you can use the stainless steel hinges.  Contact Ed Gallant for them: edannbus@aol.com

Yes, you can use gas struts.

No, the design and operation of the pantograph doors will not change with the stainless hinges and gas struts.

No, because of the design, the doors won't leak using the stainless hinges.  If in doubt, Ed has instructions on how to seal them if necessary.

I already emailed him, I saw a video on a 4106 and it had stainless hinges and shocks but the doors folded up unlike mine. I'm not failure enough to have known that is the way 4106 doors with different then the 4107

No, nothing will change except that you won't ever have to change them again!

One problem I had was the narrow width of the channel slots, the SS hinges wouldn't fit into the originals so I had to cut and file.
