2 volt Deep cycle batteries

I'm looking at using a set of six 2 volt 1100AH deep cycle batteries wired in series for my inverter/house batteries.
Has anyone used a 2 volt deep cycle battery set for their inverter system?
can I use a 12 volt charger if these are wired in series?

All 12volt batteries are just 6 2volt batteries wired in series.  You will need a good charger to charge that larger battery.

A battery is a battery no matter what voltage. I thought about using 2v batteries also (Lifeline L16's). I decided against it. To get 12v, you use 6 2v batteries for 1200amp/hours. The main problem with this is if you have one battery go bad, your completely out of service. If on the other hand you use 6 6v 400amp/hour batteries, you'll have the same total amp/hour. But-if you have one battery go bad, you separate that out and can still go on with 800 amp/hour, or even with just 2 good batteries at 400 amp/hours-but still at 12vdc. Good Luck, TomC

Respectfully.  If you lose just one 2 volt battery you MAY be able to just cut it out of the string and run 10 volts.  Or ... go with one extra batt and with 14 volts, then if one fails, cut it out and run with 12 volts.  Your specific system may or may not allow this.

But ... like already said better, if you use 12 volt batts and you lose one, it is very easy with prior planning to just cut it out of the string and continue with 12 volts ... only less amp capacity.  We used both with the solar homestead.  Both systems worked OK.
